There is a strange duality in the weather lately. The acrid, violaceous nights are cold, while the honey-golden days are almost sultry. Perhaps this rapid change between the extremes wear most people out. But I don’t think it wears me out as well, albeit it’s true that sometimes at night, angry dark clouds swirl in my heart. But by the next day, my soul clears up.
In the mornings, it seems whatever happened in the past, one’s life still brings something new. The future opens before us again, like a fragrant flower opening its petals for the dawn.
That is why hope glimmers up in my soul every morning. Today, for example, I sat down on the bank of the Danube, close to the water. Everything was deserted. And when I thought of you, a white gull flew over the water. I think that’s a really good sign.
With renewed strength, I continued my constitutional. Hope fired me with enthusiasm. Using the trampoline of the playground, I leapt high, and it was exhilarating both physically and mentally. I was able to lift myself off the rigid ground, if only for a moment, to be at the same height as the white gull of hope. And perhaps I was closer to you as well.
By the time I got home, I felt that somewhere in the depths of my soul I had found a bright pearl. Kind of like the one you wore on your necklace and played with all the time while we talked after the dance…
