Good luck and a bad omen about love in a few hundred words.

A leaf fell on the handlebars of my bicycle today. It shivered in the wind like you did on the slightly chilly evening before you put on your denim jacket. It was brown, but its heart was still emerald green. I put it away, I suppose such things can bring good luck once it’s fallen right on me. But then I galloped on, driven by the fever of speed.

Later, a dark grey cat crossed my path. At first it ran away in a hurry, but then he saw that I had no intention of hurting him, he slowed his soft and quiet steps. As I watched him, he watched me too.

His mien, in the faded yellow atmosphere of autumn, reminded me of another cat that looked similar, though that one wasn’t so dark furred. This other cat lives in Istanbul, and the locals call him Sheytan (Satan). He is indeed a menacingly big and cheeky cat. He deserved his name.

Halfway home, I saw another cat again. This black cat was resting under the dark shade of a bush, very peacefully. I thought I would take a closer look. But then the dark gloom of autumn crept into my heart. As I approached, flies rose from him. So I went on my way, for those flies had taken my good mood as well, and they left only swirling thoughts in my mind. These I tried to banish with the reddening bolts of lightning of speed.

I did manage to do that. But now I recalled the sight of that poor animal. I hope it’s not some sort of omen of doom! Because it’s as if the heart of this thing that is between us, had also stopped beating, like that black cat’s heart, there in the shadow…
