Waves
Look
The sea
Here it comes
Building and rising high
Cresting, swarming, flowing and then
Crashing against the sand
Spreading itself far
Drawing back
Pulling
The cliffs
Dowsed with spray
Violent torrents of waves
Like a hundred crying chicks
Jumping for the worm
Then settling down
Feeding away
Calm
The sound
Breathing in silence
Rising and falling chests
Shingles dragged into the flow
Here comes a breaker
We brace ourselves
For impact
Soaked
