She smiles and walks along
Friends by her side, she tries to stay strong
She doesn’t really know how to say
But the voices in her head were a little loud that day
Alas, she laughs and acts as if it all was alright
Needless to say, they were happy at the sight
Their friend was smiling, her face alight!
Although she wanted to show the truth, she knew they couldn't understand
The sadness had returned, that funny feeling familiar as an old friend
The one you run into when you begin to forget their face
Yet the moment you see them, you are reminded of your past days
Whenever the sadness returned, she couldn’t believe she had ever forgotten
The feeling of the weight, and her insides feeling rotten
The lack of the desire to take care of herself
The hatred that would fester, it was all that she felt
So when she got home that day, she cried in her bed as she lay
Wondering why she was made that way
