“Richard Chase was an American Serial Killer, Cannibal, and Necrophile who killed six people within a month in 1977 and 1978 in Sacramento. He drank his victim’s blood and cannibalized there remains he was referred to as “The Vampire”

 

Chase Grew up in Sacramento California. At the age of 10 he exhibited he had all 3 parts the what’s called the Macdonald triad, a theory that says he has a development of violent psychopathy. Chase had Hypochondria as he grew older, he often complained that his heart would stop beating or someone stole one of his artery’s.

he would hold oranges on his head claiming it helped him with vitamin C.  Chase claimed his cranial bones were moving around so he shaved his head to be able to watch.

After he left his mothers house, he left because he really believed his mother was trying to poison him! Chase rented an apartment, and his friends were constantly complaining chase was under the influence of drugs. Chase would walk around his apartment completely Nude, even in front of company. Chase’s Roommates demanded he move out. When Richard said “No” His roommates said “You know what ok we will leave” they left him. When Chase was left alone in his apartment he would begin to capture, kill, and disembowel Various animals, which he would then devour Raw, sometimes mixing the organs with coca cola.

 Chase believed in doing this it would help prevent his heart from shrinking. Chase spent a brief while in a psychiatric ward in 1973. In 1976 he was committed to a mental asylum. After he injected rabbits’ blood into his veins the staff nicknamed him “Dracula” he broke two birds’ necks and drank their blood. He also extracted blood from a couple therapy dogs with stolen syringes. Chase was later diagnosed with Schizophrenia. After undergoing a battery of treatments chase was deemed No longer a danger to society and, in 1976 was released back into his mother’s custody.

Chase’s mother weaned him of his medicine and got him an apartment. Later investigation uncovered that in mid-1977 Chase was arrested in Nevada. His body was found smeared in blood and police found a bucket of blood in his truck. The blood was found to be cow’s blood. No charges were filed. On December 29th, 1977, Chase killed his first victim in a drive by shooting. Ambrose griffin. 51. Two weeks later he attempted to enter the home of a women, but her doors were locked he left. Chase told detectives that he took locked doors as a sign of him not being welcome. But unlocked doors were an open invitation.

 He was chased out of one house after the couple caught him looking through their belongings and urinating on their child’s bed. On January 23rd, 1978, Chase broke into a house and shot Teresa Wallan 3 months pregnant. Stabbed her with a butcher’s knife as well once she was dead. He removed multiple organs cut off one of her nipples and drank her blood. On January 27, Chase entered the home of 38-year-old Evelyn Miroth. He encountered her friend, who he shot with his .22 handgun.

He then fatally shot Evelyn, her six-year-old son Jason and her 22-Month-old nephew David., before mutilating miroth. And engaging Necrophilia and cannibalism. A visitors knock on the door started Chase who fled in Miroth’s car. The visitor alerted a neighbor, who called the police.

They discovered chase left complete figure prints and shoe imprints in Miroths blood.  Chase was arrested short after police searched his house found the walls, floors, ceiling, refrigerator, and all of Chase’s eating utensils were covered in blood. In 1979 Chase stood trial on six accounts of murder. To avoid the death penalty the defense tried to have him found guilty of second-degree murder, which would result in life in prison.

 The case hinged on Chase’s mental illness and the crimes were premeditated. On May 8th, 1979, Chase was found guilty of six counts of murder and rejecting the argument of not being found guilty, he was sentenced to the death penalty.

The Gas Chamber. “He claimed he had to kill to survive and that if anyone was in his shoes they would kill as well.” On December 26, 1980, Chase was found dead in a jail cell. It was confirmed he had committed suicide with an overdose of prescribed medications.

 Chase had several documentaries written about him and a song in 2009. Even the tv show “Criminal minds” Has a reference to chase.
