Dear Reader, the Wayward Stories are free-spirited short stories that complement The Chestnut Point Stories novels. They feature many of the same characters and settings but don’t fit neatly into
the plot of the full-length storybooks. So they have ducked out down a side alley to join up with others of their same ilk in these Anthologies of Wayward Stories. That is where you can catch them
hiding out, which is fortunate because they harbor many past secrets not illuminated in The Chestnut Point Stories. As in the full-length storybooks, the Wayward Stories are told by the
storyteller, Jack Chapman, and captured word for word in print. You will note that Jack often makes personal comments and observations during his narrations. Also, in his exuberance for the
characters and settings, he sometimes wanders away from the storyline for a while. However, we trust that you will find the added detail and changing points of view well worth the indulgence. Your
humble scrivener, CK
