What Would Happen?

By

Brian Lee Clements

What would happen if I told you how I felt?

I’ve loved you for a couple of years but have never been able to tell you

Because I’m afraid you’ll be able to see through all the tears

What would you say to me if I told you that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you

And us to die in each other’s arms

I would pray that you would  somehow know or I could tell you somehow

From our first outing at the zoo to our latest adventure to South Florida

It’s been an adventure

And at night we would talk about our lives and hold each other until we fell asleep

One night I couldn’t sleep and I would just sit up and watch you breath

And I would wonder if one of us didn’t wake up in the morning would you know how I felt

Would I wait too late to tell you?

Or should I tell you now?

Only God knows when it should happen

Or maybe he should just give me a nudge to tell you

I guess the best way I can say it  right now is through poetry

And that is I love you with all of my heart

And I will always be there for you.

Correction: The word is 'breathe' not 'breath'. Revealed truth straight from the heart is surely the best way for any honest and deepening relationship. Thanks for the share! Poetic regards, SPP
