Written after viewing wispy white clouds on my return trip from Walmart.

Dragons in the Sky

Dragons in the sky wrapped in crystal clouds of white
See them passing by the sun in the morning’s light
Ever changing songs delight, singing to my heart
Floating free upon the breeze, magic making art
Copies of the Old Master’s, hung in airy shrines
Temporary paintings in ethereal time
Joyfully I watch them dance, lifting up my soul
Dragons of a mystic realm I will never know

Two-faced Janus standing firm holding wide the gate
Mid-day changing of the guard, giving into fate
Guided by the hand of God, witness to his grace
Calm before the coming storm; leather out of lace

Tigers on horizons crouch, thunderheads arise
Misty shadows leaping in, menace in their eyes
Silken skies have turned to gray; lightning on the chase
Sunless sulking sheets of rain running down my face
Wild winds like billowing sails caught on angry seas
Rocking with the rolling waves, fighting to be free
Rain and Sleet, the ships of war, colors flying high
Thunder cannons keep the beat, echoes cross the sky

Darkness spirals out from the center of the storm
Capturing the sunshine, where have my dragons gone
Sundown comes with promise, a rainbow split the air
Dragons will come back to me, for tomorrow’s fair

Very enjoyable read. I could see the dragons flying.

Thank you. This started out as a completely different poem, then became lyrics to a song, and finally a new version of the poem. It was to be published by a vanity press, but I've never heard back. Either way, I love it and I'm glad to share it with others thanks to Booksie.

Thank you. That poem has seen about six versions, from a poem to a song to a poem again. And to think it all started during a return trip from Walmart. Sunshine and wispy clouds. Glad you enjoyed it.
