Well, that was a very interesting first chapter! It's been a long time since I've read something in the Gothic horror style -even though it is one of my favorite genres. The chapter was also written very well; great descriptions, plenty of details, and no unnecessary info-dumping. I'll be honest, I often question the use of single quotations in dialogue, but that's a style preference -nothing blasphemous, lol. Anyway, I will certainly be looking forward to reading more of this. Great chapter! :)
