Lotus
Out of the muck and mire’s throes
A thousand petaled lotus grows
Deep in a forest where no one goes
Admired only by God
I am that flower that no one knows
Onto myself my beauty shows
Dancing unseen in wordless prose
I am perfectly flawed
A copy designed by Nature’s art
Watching everything till I depart
A fool who sees from the start
Measured only by time
It all comes from deep inside the heart
Touching our universal part
My essence to all I will impart
The treasures of my mind
Even if I do not see, I know that God will walk with me
Then in the end will set me free but I will still be me
And when I look out on the pond this is what I notice
That God admires one and all as if we all were lotus
In mystic places and secret spaces much of what we know[1]
Is lost in cryptic phrases that point the way to go
Knowledge is often hidden and you must read between the lines
For nothing can be given if truth is what you seek to find
You cannot see the face of God unless you close your eyes
And words he will not tell you, yet he still replies
He does not stand behind you but he is with you everyday
He does not see you as you kneel but he is what you pray
