The Great Boredom War
By M.M.Mann
Boredoms bought the cavalry and I’m in the trench of the 9-5 rat race,
manning the rent paying battery.
Click! Clack! the deafening bellow of the keyboard artillery,
But don’t worry the paperwork regiment is on the way to help engage the hostility.
A nuclear powered pen and PTSD,
mach one speed across this page oh woe is me!
Gather the intelligence on a computer screen spreadsheet,
Send it to upper command, they reject a retreat.
Suck it up the generals say ‘Think of the commission!’
Heard that party line before oh what repetition!
Here comes the air force,
the wreckage of paper planes litter the battlefield floor.
Just victims of the great boredom war.
It’s finally here! The five o clock ceasefire,
until the morning when again… we go under the wire.
