Dandelion Wars
.
I believe I’ve been triumphant
In the dandelion wars
Or maybe just the battle I have won
Down on my hands
And on my knees
Out in the early April sun
.
Then overnight the call comes in
For reinforcements strong
Dig in to fight another day
To prove my hubris wrong
.
And so the fight goes on and on
Throughout the spring and summer
Mother Nature’s on the attack
But I’ll take the battle from her
.
I find the fight that never ends
In the dandelion wars
Though winter always brings a swift retreat
The troops lay low
Till a springtime’s charge
When none admit defeat

I posted it on FB and people flower shamed me for not recognizing the wonderful properties of dandelions. Salads, wine, medicinal, etc. So I added this new poem:
Roses are red,
Dandelions, yellow no doubt,
I wish you people
Would please mellow out.
I'll dig them all up,
And avoid the bee stings,
Then go in the house
And eat the damn things ????
LOL! That poem had me cracking up... You should post that one.
