BACK from the BRINK

I've got a STORM CLOUD hanging above my BED,  a THUNDERSTORM going off in my HEAD,  can't clearly RECALL exactly what you SAID,  except the part about being BETTER OFF DEAD

Kaw! Kaw! Kaw!  Outside the ONLY BIRDS ARE CROWS,  in the SPOILED SOIL ONLY  WEEDS  GROW,  I PEEK OUT just in time to see my car GETTING TOWED  ,Don't they know it ain't WORTH what I  owe

 passersby not PAYING ATTENTION are vermin  the Fat Cats like MOST, to them I propose a TOAST, a get rich quick scheme in which  I'm thoroughly ENGROSSED has ENABLED me to come and go like a GHOST 

Drifting in and out  of SANITY ,one foot, knee deep in DEPRAVITY,  the other treading CALAMITY , a long TOKE, a canopy of SMOKE that even makes the roaches CHOKE 

Through CRACKED GLASS the inexorable HEAT is MAGNIFIED to a BOIL  in my ROOM,  my LAST CHANCE to ACT FAST ,  SOON it'll be NOON, a PILE of bills months PASTDUE,  faded jeans  stinkin  SHOES,  a shower that's long OVERDUE ,  the LANDLADY is knocking ,threatening to SUE

So  I LAID LOW in silent MODE which everybody KNOWS is my M.O.

Then I prepared to Do what a Man's got to DO,  the clock then said a quarter til 2, I  brushed my TEETH then SLITHERED  to the STREET, like a carnivor in need of MEAT my demeanor couldn't 've been meaner

I found your  office WINDOW ajar and quietly CLIMBED through, you put on a SHOW acting  SHOCKED and SURPRISED , I didn't have to TELL YOU what to DO ... you already KNEW 

I MADE my ESCAPE DOWN the PROMENADE,  the BIG LAMP  had already EATEN UP the SHADE  ,I HID in PLAIN SIGHT ,all EYES easily EVADED,  LIQUEFIED  , I SLID BY then  SLIPPED AWAY 

 I STOPPED and said a PRAYER to the LORD,  the one who THREW us ONTO this HUMAN HEAP,  the same way ONE THROWS DIRTY DISHES in the SINK,  to say THANKS for BRINGING ME BACK FROM THE BRINK
