End of Summer Party

In the Emerald Isle,

Home of leprechaun and fairy,

There is a celebration tonight.

One that is always merry.

All the mythical creatures,

Animals, and wizards too.

Meet for the End of Summer Party.

There is always quite a crew.

Gnomes and fairies,

Leprechauns and unicorn,

Even the pixies and imps.

All party till the light of morn.

The fox, rabbits and frogs are there.

So are the deer, ducks and drakes.

But thanks to Saint Patrick

There are never any snakes.

They drink hardy Guinness stout

And Jameson’s Irish whiskey.

They recite poems of Yeats and Shaw,

Beckett and Seamus Heaney.

They sing traditional Irish ballads.

There is the ever-popular folk dance.

Of course, in the misty forest air

There is always a little Irish romance.

It will be a wonderful night.

Enjoyable to all.

As they bid summer goodbye

And welcome the beginning of fall.
