More good poetry. I love how you set the poem up to be an archetypal romance and then twist it around with the contrast you create in the last two lines. My only criticism would be that the main body seems a little too repetitive: I.E. you seem to be expressing sentiments that either restate or reinforce those that you have already conveyed. ... This is great poetry. I love the subtlety and ambiguity, the way you elegantly wrap meaning up in the folds of metaphor and personification. Very effective use of the free-verse form and a very strong ending. I'm surprised I have never come across your work before and plan to read more of it when I get the chance. :)
