“HOW I FELL INLOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND”
“I’m leaving now, Andrea.” Luciano said, gripping my hand tightly as we stand outside the entrance of Jose Banggoy International Airport.
“Luc.” I whispered valiantly holding back my tears and smiling even though I feel m heart breaking. “Take care, okay? London is so far from Davao so I can’t go and care for you if you get sick”
“Of course.” He smiled back. “Don’t get into trouble, okay? London is too far from Davao for me to come to you and bail you out of trouble.”
I laughed. After 5 years of being friends and each others’ confidante, I didn’t think that the day would come when Luciano and I would be separated from each other. The pain of separation was almost too much to bear. He is my best friend and I don’t want him to go, but I knew that going London was the best for him. It was about time that he succeeds his father’s business. But still… I tried to hold back my tears but it still spilled down my cheeks.
“Don’t cry, Andrea.” Luc wiped away my tears with his fingers. “You know how I hate it when you cry.”
I just nodded and then I leaned my into his broad shoulders. God! I will miss this guy so much.
Luc hugged me tightly. “I’ll email you as soon as I arrive in London. I promise to call you every now and then, so don’t cry anymore. I don’t want to see my best friend’s crying face before I leave”
“Good luck on Law school. I know you can do it!”
“hmmm…” I looked up at him and smiled. “Good Luck with running your father’s business! I know you can do it”
With that we parted ways. He was my best friend and I was never going to forget about him. At that time I didn’t know that it would take eight long years for us to speak with each other again.
I didn’t know that I, Andrea Vida S. Cordon, would fall in love with my best friend, Luciano Kyriakis, upon meeting him again for the first time in five years. This is my story. This is the story of my pain, suffering, love, happiness, and sacrifices. This is the story of how I fell in love with my best bud, Luc.
