I put the glass of wine on the table and wiped my lips with a napkin. “I'm really not in a position to discuss my clients. Company policy, you see.”

She chuckled. “You're a dangerous man, Mr. Pennfield.”

“But a nice one, I assure you.”

“That's what you all say!”

The force of her reply surprised me. It was an accusation and a verdict delivered in one sentence. Unbridled with a primordial antagonism against the masculine essence.

“Come,” she said. “I've got something to show you.”
