Chapter 2

I felt like there were a ton of weights on my shoulders as I lead Blake to his English class. I'm playing with a loose strand of thread on my sleeve nervously as the clunk clunk of Blake's crutches echoed.

As we arrive at the classroom I immediately hold the door open for him. He didn't even acknowledge my presence. He right walked right into the room and sat down in his seat.

Fine. Be that way. Blake doesn't want anything to do with me and I doing want anything to do with him.

I walk toward my class too arriving about two minutes late. The teacher just nods and I head to my seat. We're supposed to be taking notes but my mind wanders and I start twirling a pen with my fingers. Vivian gives me a look and I stop.

'Take some notes smart one.' she seemed to say.

I shrug and take out my notebook. I start to lazily copy down some things on the board and then, I find myself doodling in the margins. Vivian gives me a look that literally says, 'Your hopeless.'

As soon as the bell rings, I jump out of my desk and leave the room as fast as I can. I don't want Vivian pestering me with questions on why I can't seem to focus. Because the truth is, I don't even know why.

I arrive at Blake's English class and he's not there.

"I'm sorry Miss Snow, Mr. Hayden just left," the teacher replied.

"Oh ok. Thank you."

As soon as I'm out of the room, I'm fuming.

I guess Mr. I-can-do-whatever-I-want doesn't need my help. Fine. Like I'd want to help his lazy ass anyway.

As I arrive at my Calculus class, I see him sitting at his desk already. I angrily take my seat next him. I try to shut my mouth but I fail.

"You don't need my help do you?" I ask, trying to keep my voice level.

He's silent. And I'm just about to turn back to face the board when he replies.

"Never said I needed it."

His expression is still the same. Flipping through his notes calmly and I'm so pissed that I think I might take his notes out of his hands and rip them apart.

What does he know? I'm getting late for my classes because of him and I have to send him to class every week.

"Ok."

The class goes by agonizingly slow. I try to focus on not breaking my pencil for the 20th time. Once school ended, I go to the principal's office.

"Mrs. Mason, may we talk?" I ask.

"Of course, Destiny," she stops filing her papers and looks at me through her glasses.

"I don't want to be escorting Mr. Hayden to his classes anymore."
