Chapter 3

"Why Miss Snow?" the principal asked confusingly.

"I'm not exactly sure that Mr. Hayden needs my help. He got to his class just fine today."

"I understand that Mr. Hayden might feel like he can handle things himself but I still want you to be there for him ok?" Mrs. Mason requested kindly.

I was stuck. If I continued to help Blake then I would be late to my classes and get unwanted attention. If I didn't...

"Fine. But for how long exactly?"

"About 3 weeks? It depends really on how fast his leg heals."

I exit the room and sigh to myself. Great. 3 whole weeks of spending time with "THE" Blake Hayden. Any other girl would probably die for a chance like that...

The next day, Blake wasn't at school. His teachers requested that I bring his homework to him.

"But I don't even know where he lives! Why can't his parents pick it up?" I asked.

"His parents don't have enough time to pick up the work. Besides, he lives just a block away from you. Please Destiny?"

I grab his homework and start heading to Blake's house with his address clutched in my hand. Now I'm an errand boy for him too.

His house isn't too far and soon, I'm at his door. I take a deep breath and then wonder confusingly, "Why am I so nervous?"

I press the doorbell and the door opens.

"Welcome! You must be Destiny, Mrs. Mason told me you were coming."

I was greeted by a middle-aged woman with light brown hair and smiling eyes. Exactly the opposite of Blake Hayden.

I stick out my hand to hand her the homework but she just says, "No no, why don't you give it to Blake? He's up in his room. The one at the far end."

This definetly wasn't what I expected.

"Uh...sure I guess."

I start walking up the stairs and open the door to the far end. He's working on his laptop and gives me a look.

"Why are you here?"

Even though his voice doesn't have a hint of rudeness in it, I still feel annoyed.

"Here's your homework."

I toss the homework at him but he doesn't reach out to catch it. Instead, it lands on the table. Good enough for me.

I walk to the room, prepared to head out when his words stop me in my tracks.

"Hey you, thanks."
