Chapter.3. = Kyle’s Comfort
I slowly and carefully walked out of the Principal’s office, looking both ways as if I was about to cross the street. Students were filing out of their classrooms, it being lunchtime. I looked everywhere for Mark but thankfully, he was out of sight. I sighed, turning to go to the canteen just as I felt a hand clamp down on my shoulder. I screamed, spinning round in shock as I came face to face with Kyle.
“Oh thank god Kyle, it’s only you.” I said between gasps, hand on my chest.
“Who did you think it was? Wicked witch of the west?” He chuckled.
“Don’t even joke about that.”
“You ok?” I nodded faintly. “No you’re not, what’s up?”
“Nothing.” I lied. I went to walk away but he grabbed my shoulder again. “Don’t touch me.” I defended, pulling away from his grasp. He grabbed my arm and led me to a corner, his face up close to mine. It reminded me of him. I was sure that I could smell cigarettes and alcohol now, I could see his yellow teeth, he edging closer and close every second. I screamed, kicking him where it hurts as he fell to the floor in pain. I just cowered up a corner, watching, tears streaming down my face as students crowed round Kyle, trying to help him up. “I...I’m so sorry.” I managed, falling to the floor beside him. “I’m so sorry.” I hung my head as I broke down into tears. He looked at me sympathetically and rubbed my arm comfortingly, pulling me in close for a hug, allowing me to cry harder into his chest.
“Come on Bell’s.” He soothed. “It’s ok; just tell me what’s wrong.”
“I can’t.”
“So there is something wrong?”
“No.” I lied, sniffing. “We...We should get you to the nurse.” I changed the subject. “After....you know?”
“Who cares about that?” He chuckled, stroking my hair and staring into my eyes. “You’re more important right now.” I shook my head, looking at the floor. “Come with me.” He helped me up, managing to stand himself and led me through the crowd, over to the art classroom. It was always mainly empty, used for people who needed to be alone or needed help with work. Now was the perfect time to use it. Nate sat me down at a desk and shut the door behind us, sitting opposite me. “What’s up kid?” He asked, holding my hands and rubbing them.
“Nothing.” I lied again, breathing heavily.
“Come on, calm down.” He ordered, grabbing a sheet of paper and a pencil. “Wanna do some drawing? Calm yourself down.” I shrugged as I picked up the pencil. “I always draw when I need calming down, kind of hard at home though with the twins around.”
“How...How are they?” I stuttered, beginning to draw.
“Ok, turning three in August.” I’d only met Kyle’s twin sisters about twice but they were really cute. Jessica and Ashley. “Every time I try to even draw or do homework then they always have to help.” I chuckled slightly, wiping my eyes with my sleeve. “What are you drawing anyway?”
“A rose.” I mumbled, grabbing a red pencil and shading it in.
“You’re well good at art.”
“Thanks, it’s like the only thing I’m good at.”
“You’re good at lots of things.”
“Like what?”
“Drawing, being funny, being annoying.” I chuckled slightly but remained silent. “Feeling a little better?” I shrugged. “Want me to get a teacher or anyone?”
“No.” I quickly told him. “Please don’t.”
“You sure?” I nodded. “Well, if...if you need to talk to someone, then...I’m always here.”
“I know.” I whispered, swallowing hard and holding back my tears. “You’re all I need.” My voiced faded off as I choked up.
“Come here.” He held out his arms and getting up, I walked round to him, falling into his arms in tears.
I am really starting to want Kyle for myself now! :D
