Chapter 12: Dance-Off

“Just dance…gonna okay.” Sang Cassie, under her breath. Ms. Dazzle was standing in front of everyone, “Welcome to Washington High’s Dance-Off of 2009!” she yelled, thrusting a fist in the air.Everyone cheered.

“The heads of this years dance-off are…Cassie Williams and Grace Love.” Continued Ms. Dazzle.

More cheers.

Cassie and Grace both stood up and went over to the stage. Ms. Dazzle talked a bit more and then it started.

The two enemies sat next to each other watching their friends dance. Then, it was their turn.

They were fighting for a trophy. The judges were Ms. Dazzle, Coach Bronze, and Mrs. Lane.

Cassie got up first and began to dance.

“Just dance, gonna be okay, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, spin that record babe, da da doo-doo-mmm
Just dance, gonna be okay, d-d-d-dance
Dance, dance, just, j-j-just dance”

Everyone began singing along, and stomping their feet.

Cassie felt as if she could dance all night. Her feet and soul were free. When it was done, the judges scribbled on paper and smiled.

Then Grace went. Quickly, Cassie signaled at her friends. Nadine crept over and pulled the plug out and ran away with it right as Grace hit PLAY. No music came out and Grace’s shoulders slumped.

“Who did this?” she wailed.

Cassie squirmed in her seat. Then, she jumped up. “It was I! I did it!”

Everyone gasped.

“Cassie! Is…is that really what happened?” gasped Ms. Dazzle.

Cassie nodded.

“Your disqualified!” shouted Coach, “Grace is the winner!”

“What?” Grace cried.

Everyone stared at her. This was like a movie for them.

“No. I already ruined Cassie’s life. She said so herself. I can’t take this from her. Dancing is her life. Dancing is just a hobby to me. She should win!” Grace insisted.

Cassie gapped at Grace, “B-but. Y-you. I-I. What?”

Grace walked over to Cassie and took her hand, and raised it up high.

“Cassie might be my worse enemy but…she still deserves it!” Yelled Grace.

I grinned at Grace, tears streaming down my face but I didn’t care.

“Thank you Grace. You are really a amazing person.” I whispered.

“I know.” She whispered back.

THE END.

Author’s Note: Sorry this novel was so short but I was anxious to write a new one and I can’t handle more than two novels at one. : P
