Jocelyn's POV

When I saw Dr. Costello come out of Faith's room and close the curtain behind him, I stood up. The puppy in my hands squirmed around in my grasp, but I managed to calm her the heck down and walk over to Dr. Costello.

The puppy was how Faith would have wanted it. A black and white Border Collie, one of her ears white, and the other one black. And I got her from a shelter. She as due to be put down in a day or two, and I wouldn't let that happen. Besides, she's just the cutest thing!

"What's wrong?" I asked him as soon as I got a better look at him. He was paler than normal(normally, he wasn't so tan)and he had bags under his eyes. The point is, he looked like he didn't sleep in days.

"What?" he asked me, but then shook his head. "Never mind. Are you ready?"

I gave him a curious look. "Yeah." He flipped through his clipboard as if to check something over real quick before opening the curtain back up and going back in. I heard some mumbling, and him aking Faith if she was ready for a big surprise. After another mumble that sounded a lot like,"Yeah!", Dr. Costello told me to come on in.

I pulled the curtain aside and walked in. The puppy's tail started wagging immediately. Faith gasped and smiled. "Jocelyn, you got a dog?"

"Yeah," I said. "For you, Faith. Say hi to your new pup." I walked over to the side of the bed and handed her the puppy. The puppy started to lick Faith's face all over, and got Faith laughing. "Oh my God!" she said through laughs. "A him or her?"

"A her, I know how much you love girl pups, so, here you go." I pet the puppy as she laid down and curled up on Faith's lap. I felt a little tug as my sleeve and I looked over. Dr. Costello motioned me outside and I followed behind him.

My heart quickened a beat. I wasn't stupid. This was bad news. He was pale, he looked soooo tired, and he looks like he's also holding his breath.

"Look, Jocelyn..." he began, trailing off.

I gulped. Tears began to form in the back of my eyes. "Just say it," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"The reason why what happened last night to Faith, happened, is because her kidney's failed."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What? What does that mean?"

He sighed. "Her kidneys have stopped working. She needs someone to donate one of their kidneys to her, and she needs one soon. Now I-"

"I'll do it!" I yelled automatically. Some people looked over at us, but then went back to whatever they were doing before. Dr. Costello just shook his head.

"No," he said, looking angry. "You can't do it. You don't have the same blood type as hers to do it."

"Then make my blood type the same as hers," I said, determined, holding my head up a little higher.

"You can't just do that." He threw his hand through his hair. "Look, the only thing left to do is find someone who has the same blood type as hers and is willing to donate. If we don't, then..."

I shook my head. Tears went down my cheeks. "No, don't say that."

He put a hand up to my cheek and wiped away the tears, but I shrugged him off. "I'm sorry," he said. "But this is hard on me, too."

I looked over through the part of the curtain that was still open. Through that little part that was still open, I could see Faith, laughing and kissing the puppy. The puppy was kissing her, too.

All I could think was, 'She's not going to be like that in about 10 seconds from now.'

NOW GOES THE DRAMATIC, "OOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" LOL. SORRY SUCH A SHORT CHAPTER, BUT THIS IS GOING TO BE A SHORT NOVEL, AND IF I WANNA MAKE IT A LONGER NOVEL, IM GOING TO HAVE TO NOT MAKE LONG CHAPTERS. SO, YEAH. HOPE YA LIKES IT!!!! LUV YA!!!
