"It's okay."
Silver Key went back to grazing. Wildfire nudged Derek's shoulder. He pulled out a few small carrots and fed them to him. We sat down and talked for an hour. I got to know him so much better.
I had to leave a few minutes later. When we got back I got Wildfire ready for the night. I walked up to the house. My dad was talking to some lady. She had brown hair and the same ice blue eyes as Derek.
"Sasha. This is Ms. Sanders. Derek is her son."
"Hi Ms. Sanders."
"Hi Sasha. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too."
She left then and my dad pulled out some lasagna. He was hands on and made sure I was well taken care of. We ate silently and then my dad pulled out an ice cream carton.
"Chocolate Marshmellow," he said. I smiled and got the can of whipped cream out and sprinkles. We kept talking and then my dad said two words I'd never want to hear.
"I'm dating."
My jaw dropped and my stopped.
