Chapter Two: Baby, I like it.

“OH, ERIC!” My mom screeched as she ran down the stairs and too my car. Never have I seen that women move so fast.

“Hey, Mom.” Eric said, hugging her and smiling bright.

“I’ve missed you dear, so much.”

“I know, I’ve missed you a lot too.”

“And Zachariah, how have you been dear!? You’ve become so handsome. Isn’t he handsome, Cassie?” She said, pinching Zach’s smiling cheek and looking at me.

I rolled my eyes, “Yes Mom.”

“Oh, I just made cookies, so come in boys, don’t be strangers.” Mom said walking away without a second glance as I made a beeline for my bedroom.

“Cassie, dear, where do you think you’re going? It’s so rude of you to leave our guests when they’ve just arrived.”

“Mom, its Eric and Zach. I’m sure they can live without seeing me for five minutes.” I said, rolling my eyes.

“Don’t be silly. Come and visit, I know you’re brother missed you terribly.”

I sighed and walked into the kitchen, pulling my cellphone out of my pocket and texting Emma.

“So you think I’m handsome?” Zach said, startling me and causing Eric to go into uncontrollable laughter.

I snorted.

“Don’t flatter yourself, hot shot. I was saying it for mom’s benefit; you know she wouldn’t shut up about it if I didn’t agree.” I said with a smirk.

He roared with laughter. “You sure haven’t changed, Miss Cass. I missed you a lot, you know.”

“And I missed you too.” I sat on a stool and ate a cookie. My phone buzzed and Eric grabbed it before I even had the chance to blink.

“Like, omg. I’m like, totally gunna be there in like, five minutes.” He read out the text, obviously from Emma, then an evil smirk took over his face and he took off.

“He’ll never grow up, will he?” I mused as I grabbed another cookie.

Zach leaned against the counter beside me, arms crossed and smiled as we heard the petrified scream of a frightened teenage girl. “Nah, but if he did life wouldn’t be nearly as fun.”

“Oh my dear lord, Cassie. Could you have told me sooner that Eric was here!? I would have known not to just walk in, because he scared the devil right out of me! And who are you!?” Emma asked, barging in as always.

Emma wasn’t the shy type. She had gorgeous auburn hair that went to her waist, blue/green eyes and the perfect body. She towered over me, standing at a good 5’9. She was basically the epitome of beautiful, not that you’d ever get her to admit it. She’s been my best friend since we were born, literally. My mom and her mom have been friends since grade nine; they did everything together, having me and Emmy 3 days apart. Go figure.

“And you have not changed on bit either, Emma.” Zach smiled at her.

She looked so lost. “I don’t know you. Cassie, do I know him?” She said going into my fridge and grabbing an apple.

“It’s Zachie-kins.” I said, and laughed as she choked on the piece of apple she was eating, as I referred to our old nickname for him.

“ZACH WILSON?! Oh wow, you have changed. A fine piece of meat you are.” She said, eying him up and down before hugging him. Did I mention she’s the most out – going person I know?

“Thank you, Emma. I think.” He asked, hugging her back before stepping away.

“It was a compliment. Cassie - boo, I say a solid 10.0” She said, giving me an obvious look.

“I cannot help but agree with you, Emmy-bear.” I said with a giggle. We were, obviously, giving him a rating on our hot chart. We could be so shallow sometimes.

“I’m lost.” Zach said, looking between up, creasing his eye brows.

I hopped of my stool and patted his back. “As you should be, Zachariah, as you should be.”

I grabbed Emma’s hand and dragged her to my room.

“Oh my-my, Zachie-kins sure became eye candy, hey? I would tap that.” She said winking in my direction.

“Emma Marie! You’re so perverted!” I shouted, laughing and jumping on my bed.

“Hey, I’m just saying, he’s so fine. You think he’s got a girlfriend?”

“Looking that good? No doubt in my mind.”

“What about Eric?”

“Please don’t tell me your silly crush on my brother is back.” I giggled.

“It is not silly, and it’s quite possible. That blonde hair sure has gotten lighter hey? I mean, god, he’s gorgeous. ” She said, dreamily.

As long as I’ve known Emma, she has had a huge crush on Eric. Always. She once planned their wedding, and was stoked cause then we would basically be sisters. We were 6.  She had a dress and everything picked out, and then tried to convince Eric to act it out with her. He still teases her about to this day and always calls her ‘Wifey.’

“Oh yes. Those eyes. If I wasn’t his sister, I would hit that. With my car.” I laughed at her shocked expression, which quickly turned into a glare.

“Do not mock me young lady!” She said laying down beside me.

“I’m not babe, I’m just saying. Isn’t he too old for you?”

“No, I mean Jake was a year older than him and we dated for a month.”

“Oh Emmy, what will we do with you?”

She just sat up and giggled.  “I want a cookie.”

As she got up and opened the door, Eric stumbled through the door. Zach chuckled while Emma and I burst into hysterical laughter.

“Uh, um, yeah, uh.” Eric mumbled out while turning an attractive shade of red, while Zach just laughed hysterically.

“Oh Eric, if you wanted in my room, you should have just asked!” Emma winked and continued on to the kitchen.

“It’s my room, Emmy – bear!” I shouted after her, giggling at Eric’s dumbfounded expression.

He shook his head and went to the kitchen after her.

“They’re so alike, it’s scary.” I mused aloud.

“They’d be good together, don’t you think?” Zach said, leaning against my door frame.

“They’d be the most interesting couple I’ve ever met, that’s for sure.” I said looking at him.

I couldn’t control the butterfly’s that filled my stomach as he smiled down at me.

“Cassandra! Come here please.” My mom yelled from the bottom of the stairs, saving me from what I can guarantee would be an embarrassing moment.

“Yes?” I asked, meeting her down stairs at the front door.

“I’m going to get Alice, could you whip up some dinner for the six of us?” She asked. Alice is Emma’s mom.

I sighed, “Sure. What do you want?”

“Something simple. Spaghetti with Italian sausage?”

“Okay. See when you get back.”

I walked into the kitchen to see Eric flirting with Emma like crazy.

“Eh love birds, get out of my kitchen.” I laughed as they jumped apart.

“Wow, thanks for ruining that for me Issy,” Eric glared and rubbed the top of my head.

“No problem Ricty.” We had been using our old nicknames for each other when we couldn’t pronounce each other’s names.

He chuckled and kissed the top of my head and walked out of the kitchen.

“Cassie – boo! You just ruined all my fun.” Emma whined, grabbing a carrot from the fridge and sitting on a stool.

“Oh Emmy, how will you go on!? And seriously, if you’re going to eat all the food, go to your own house.”

“I am at my own house! Seriously, we should all just live together.”

“Mhm, well you discuss that with your Mom and Dad and I’ll cook dinner.”

Emma continued her random babble as I pre-paired dinner.
