Chapter 14

A Talk With Minerva

Lily was up in McGonagalls office. It was a biggish room with lot's of portraits of the old Headmasters. There was also a phoenix that looked very young, standing on top of it's perch.
McGonagall walk over to her and put a hand on the back of the chair.
"Lily, would you please get some books for me from Professor Terrian? He will be in his office." She held out a little list to Lily which she looked over.
"Uh, yeah." Lily got up and took he book list. She headed towards the door, then turned.
"Professor, will these books help with the...daydream I had?" She asked nervously. She didn't know what else to call it.
"Oh I hope so." McGonagall sat by her desk and looked at Lily. "To be honest dear, I've never seen anything like it before."
"Well will you be telling me the whole details?" Lily asked. "I just want to understand what's happening."
"Oh, I'm not sure. This must be some dark magic and if I told you what was happening in your daydream, well, I don't know what you would think of it." McGonagall didn't seem as strict as usual. Lily looked at her in wonder then went outside the office.
As she went along the corridor she didn't expect to bump into anyone, and not anyone who didn't have any business towards this part of Hogwarts so when Grace suddenly bumped into Lily, she nearly screamed at the sight of her.
It was quiet that day as well.
"Grace! What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Uh, I don't know. I'm just going on a walk." Grace looked at the book list in Lily's hand. "Aren't you meant to be in McGonagalls office?"
Lily smiled weakly. "I'm getting some books for her." Lily waved the list.
"Well, good luck." They walked off in different directions.
Lily knocked twice on the door and was replied with a faint "Come in!"
Lily opened the door and looked around the small office. There was a few objects that were spinning and making a whistling noise. There was a strange plant on a table that had a pinkish tint to the green. It moved slowly and Lily got the sense it was watching her. There was alot of books on the floor and other things. Terrian didn't exactly keep his place tidy.
"Good morning Lily. What beings you here on a lovely morning?" He asked. Lily looked outside the window and saw rain pouring down it.
"Uh, McGonagall wants some books." She handed him the list which he took.
"Ah. yes, I'll get them right away." He got up from behind his desk and looked around his untidy room and started to rake through the piles of books.
"Found one!" He looked up and handed Lily Unexplainable Dreams.
"Another." Lily took The Cursed Mind out of his hands.
"And finally." He gave her the last book. "Visions Of The Past."
Lily looked at the last book.
"What does that mean?" She asked. "That daydream wasn't a vision of the past!"
"Miss Potter. Professor McGonagall is not the type to keep important secrets from the ones they are about. She will tell you in time. Now, back to her office."
Terrian pushed lily out of his office slightly and closed the door behind her. Lily walked back to McGonagalls office in silence.
"Niffler." Lily said and the gargoyle blocking the staircase to McGonagalls office jumped out of the way.
"You have some visitors." It said as she went up.
"Visitors?" She asked but it was laughing and didn't answer. When Lily opened the door she saw two people at the McGonagalls desk.
"Mum?" She asked. "Dad? What are you doing here?"
"Lily, I have asked your parents to come in so we can talk about your daydream."
"But what if I don't want them here?" Lily argued. She walked further into the office and put the books on a table. Ginny frowned.
"Lily, whats wrong with you?" She asked. "I thought you would be happy to see us?"
I would have been, Lily though, but that book has changed everything.
Lily thought about the trophy's and new exactly what they were for yet the others all had to wonder.
"Lily, your father is an Auror. He could help." Said McGonagall.
"Fine." Lily said, sitting next to Harry. "What do we do?"
"First tell them what happened in the daydream."
Lily thought back and tried to remember every detail but there wasn't much she could remember.
"Well first I couldn't hear anything. I don't even know what I said. And it's hard to recall every detail but I do remember a black cloak and then a green flash." Lily said. "That's all it was really."
Even with this small information her father looked like he had seen a ghost.
"Uh, Minerva. May we talk outside?" He asked.
"Yes we can."
All of the adults got up and walked outside the office. Lily sat only for a few seconds and then jumped up to eavesdrop. She had a right to know what was going on.
"-Really be that time?" Can it?" Asked Harry.
"Harry, I've heard that story a thousand times. She has had a vision of it." McGonagall said.
"But how? It's not possible!"
"Something has happened to her head. Ages ago her head started hurting and she had to stay in the hospital wing. She has even confessed that she has had terrible head aches over the Summer."
"But how does that connect?" Harry blurted out. "Never mind that. Did she say...what I think she said?"
"She did, Harry. She was begging for your life..."
There was a noise.
Lily looked round at the other door on the opposite side of the office. Something made a movement or something. Lily wanted to hear more about her daydream but had to check out what it was. She slowly walked towards the door and put a hand on the door knob. She heard someone say something then threw the door open.
Grace sat on a bed and looked up at Lily. Wild surprise in her eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Lily screamed.
"Uh, McGonagall put me in here until you were finished!" Grace said. "There was a soundproof spell on the door! I didn't hear anything!"
"Yeah right!" Lily cried. "Tell me why you are in McGonagalls bedroom!"
At that point the door to the staircase opened. McGonagall came inside and glared at them.
"Lily, what's all this racket!"
"Grace is in here listening to us!" Lily complained. McGonagall hesitated a second then said.
"Grace, stay here. Harry and Ginny, you may leave. Lily, back to Gryffindor Tower."
Lily looked at Grace than at McGonagall and then at her parents.
"Fine. She grabbed her coat and the book under it. "I'll just tell James that you saved lives."
Harry watched her leave in astonishment.
Right now might be the best time to say that she dreamed of a giant snake before she even read the book.
