Chapter two

The world was in a great depression. Riya Smith was gone. Probably the most gifted child ever to walk among them. It was amircale getting her, everyone though. Why Doug had to scare her away--why Douf had to kill the eldest brother--was still a twisted mystery they all had yet to discover. Until they could decipher it, they would let their heads hand, showing that they were not happy with Salem.

"I think we made a big mistake, Doug," Harlow said, viewing the news on Yahoo. He sat in his old swivel chair in his office, which is just another room in an abandoned underground laboratory they found a few years back. The Christian group.

Doug, who had been sipping a cup of coffee, minding his own business, cussed under his breath. "Ah, forget them," he said. "If loosing that one little girl is heartbreak enough to cause this," he gestured with one long hand towards the computer screen, where a picture of a group of people dressed in black, each one holding an 8'11 piece of paper in their hands that was saying something about this Riya girl, was displayed. "Them that just proves these people don't have spines."

Harlow tried to ignore the chilling feeling that hearing those words sent down his spine. "Of course, sir," he said, and he quickly went to typeing before Doug could say anything else. To Harlow's relief, he left without another word.
