Author's Note: I know I usually have these at the end, but I wanted to warn you that voter's choice was to have a sex scene. It is not explicit, as I promised, but I also promised majority rules. It is a love scene more than anything, and though I caution you, I do not think you will find this offensive. Please give it a read, besides, the end is important. Thank you.
Shane pulled Delilah close, buried his face in the curve of her neck, scraping his teeth against her skin. She shivered under him, her eyes half open all the time, trying to watch him, and trying to come to grasps with yet another new experience in her life.
"I love you Delilah." he whispered.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, but she didn't dare tell him she was in pain. She was doing good, her smiled hadn't faltered once. Though it was hard to resist wincing at times. She was enjoying it...it was just painful too.
"I love you Shane. Don't ever leave me." she breathed, and pulled his face to hers to kiss him. "Stay with me forever."
"Forever, Mrs. Jacobs. I will always be here." he promised.
She closed her eyes in relief, arched her chest, tried to ignore any pain, pretend it didn't exist. She had to accept that life with Shane would always be painful somehow. It seemed it was just how his kind...thier kind was. This life came with pain.
She felt the transformation. As Shane had promised, the bond became stronger, she became more and more like him, whatever he was. She was going to be immortal. She was immortal. Shane would be hers until eternity.
"Delilah." he breathed, as if her name were a life line. "Mine." he moaned.
She opened her eyes, her smile stretching wider. "Always." she whispered.
He looked into her eyes, stopped. "You're in pain. You should have told me."
"I'm fine Shane." she put a hand to his cheek. "I'm perfect. I can handle it."
He kissed her. "You don't have to-"
"Belive me Shane. I don't mind." she murmured.
He smiled at her. It was another one of his sides. So loving, so compasionate. She needed him so much. She brought her lips to his, and Shane kissed her back, his hand weaving into her hair. His other hand moved to her leg, and he pulled it up and wrapped it around his waist. As they kissed he began to move again, and Delilah had to admit that for a man who hadn't had sex in fifty years, he seemed to still know how to work on a woman very well.
Shane seemed like he didn't want to stop kissing her, and just kept deepening the kiss. Neither of them needed to breathe much, so it didn't matter too much if they came up for air. Delilah moaned under his mouth, and Shane chuckled a little. She opened her eyes to look at him, then screamed instead.
She grabbed him and rolled him over as Cara swung a blade down, just missing Shane's back.
Shane didn't waste a second. He grabbed the sword, jerking it from her hands, and hit Cara right in the throat, making Delilah gasp in shock. Cara vanished, her body turning into dust, and it was as if she'd never existed. Shane dropped the sword, and swore. "He's going to know immediately. We have to leave now." Shane said, then reached over and grabbed his wife and pulled her into his arms. They vanished.
Delilah was a bit dizzy when they appeared in an empty house. Shane was already at a dresser throwing clothes her way and then slipping on some jeans. "We're going to have Charles and Alexander after us now. I'm not worried about Charles so much, but Alexander is not only a dear friend of mine, but many others. Delilah, we have to get to as many as we can before he does. I'm sorry I killed your mother."
She shook her head. "It's-"
"She would have killed you too with a blow like that. It's one thing to try to kill me but I won't even fathom the thought of anyone harming you. She had to die. No one hurts my wife, my Delilah." He breathed. He was suddenly in front of her, cupping her face and kissing her. “We have to go, get dressed. I’ll get some things together. Alexander will act fast. We have to be four steps ahead of him at all times.”
Delilah just nodded. “Are we going to die Shane?” she whispered.
He gave her a hard look. “I just got you. I am not losing you now. I’ll kill anyone who gets in my way. We are not going to die.” He was in front of her again. “We said forever. I’m going to keep that promise.”
