Shane shoved Delilah into a chair then locked the door. He paced back and forth, ignoring her while he muttered aloud to himself. "Once again, the police are involved. And every time one goes missing one of us is blamed. This has to stop!" he stopped and turned to Delilah. "As for you." He walked over to a desk and picked up a piece of paper and a pen.
He walked over to Delilah and dropped them in her lap. "Sign this."
She looked up at him, tears in her blue eyes, but her jaw was set. "No."
He glared at her. "Either you sign this paper or pay the consequences." he warned.
She crumbled the paper into a ball and threw it at him. Then threw the pen too. "Fuck you. I won’t end up like that girl. You’ll have to kill me first."
He glared at her then bared his teeth. Her face turned white when she saw they were all sharpened at the ends and looked like they could rip right through her. Maybe that was what he intended to do. What the hell had she gotten herself into?
No, it wasn’t her fault she was here. It was his.
He leaned forward and put his hands on the arm rests so his face was right in front of hers. "Are you sure about that, Delilah?" he growled.
"Positive. But just remember, that Detective will notice if I go missing. And I have a good feeling she’ll be bothering you until she finds out what happened. And I’m sure the last thing you want is a bunch of cops digging around. Am I right?"
Shane looked at her with black fire in his eyes. "The cops pose no threat to me. You’ll sign the paper."
"No, I won’t." she replied. On the inside she was shaking and ready to do whatever he wanted. But she kept seeing that girl in her head and knew death was a better choice then being treated like a dog for possibly the rest of her life. She was standing her ground. Though it was horrifying to do so.
Her entire body twisted into knots as he leaned even closer toward her, his teeth gleamed in a deadly threat. Without thinking, but only hoping, she reached up and touched his face. He was so...well he was hot. Sexy even. Even when he was angry. Though his face was right in front of hers she just wasn’t sure he was real. And if he wasn’t then why was she so scared?
So she had to be sure. She traced her finger down the side of his face. His skin looked so healthy, so colored. His black eyes now looked surprised. She let her finger trail to his shadowed jaw, and felt the stubble. She had no intention of being seductive or other. She just had to be sure he was real.
Now sure, she lowered her hand and found that it was shaking. "I’m not signing anything. I just want to go home. And I’d like my clothes too if that’s not too much to ask."
Slowly Shane stood up, blinking, as if he had just been shot. After a moment he walked over to a cabinet. He pulled out a pair of royal blue sweat pants and a gray hoodie then tossed them into her lap. "It appears you’re cold, so those should hold you over until some more appropriate clothes are brought in for you. They’re my size so I imagine they’ll be a few sizes too big for you." He looked her over, then he smirked. "You’ll stay in that room while you’re here." he said, gesturing to small bedroom that was connected to the office. "There’s a bathroom in your room."
"I want to go home." she repeated.
"Delilah, I’d advise that you do not push your luck. I should have killed you. My chambers are across the hall of the front Office. If you need me for anything just let Charles know."
"I don’t think Charles likes me." she replied.
"I wouldn’t think so. But he’ll have his orders not to harm you. And if he does harm you it is because I asked him to do so. You’ll stay here until further notice."
"You try to put a chain around my neck and I’ll-"
"You’ll what?" he snapped. "What do you think you could possibly do to harm me?"
"I didn’t say I’d do anything to you. But I won’t be treated like those other people. You do something like that and I’ll be sure to bring the cops back into this."
"I’d like to see you try." he snapped. He straightened then he sighed. "I won’t be doing it to you. If you must know I never approved of the chains in the beginning. But it was none of my concern until now. Now that it’s cost us twenty-five thousand dollars. Not that it will put too much of a dent in the school, but we may not be able to afford future debts. You’re first act will be to repay that money."
"I don’t have that kind of money. And it’s not my fault you didn’t take care of the problem when you were first warned. So I won’t be paying you anything."
Suddenly he was right in front of her, his teeth bared again. "Watch your step, girl. Do not forget that I spared your life. If you do not have the money I’ll find other ways for you to repay it." he wrapped his fingers gently, but securely against her jaw.
"You’ll not speak to me like I am an imbecile and remember that I hold your freedom and your life in my hands. I can hurt you, Delilah. And if you continue to anger me and show disrespect I will." His grip tightened until it was painful. Before she could cry out for him to stop...he was gone.
