Just as a journey begins with a single step, a story begins with a single word. So here I am. Here lies my journey alongside my story.

My name is Richard Crimson. I was born and raised in North Carolina in a beautiful house on the lake. Every summer, along with my five siblings, I'd go swimming there. On a hot afternoon, the sparkling water was cool and refreshing, giving us the energy we needed to get through the day.

Standing here on the beach makes me remember. My childhood innocence flashes before my eyes. And now it's gone - carried away with a wave. Now I must face the present; I have to confront the truth.

My story is not one that ends happily ever after. If you're looking for a happy ending, I'd suggest you close this book right now. The story I'm about to tell you is filled with laughter and sorrow. Smiles and pain. Tears that will slowly melt your heart.

I close my eyes and bathe in the warm air. My toes rest in the sand while my arms dangle at my sides. I bow my head. God, help me through this. I gently open my eyes and gaze at the deep orange horizon. I picture her in the front of my mind.

Thus begins my journey of words.
