Chapter 4

Two days had passed and still no sight of Blank. I was beginning to think I had imagined him. I was on my way home from school with Brittani trailing behind me. She was supposed to be spending the night tonight when all of a sudden I was yanked from the pathway, hands covering my mouth annd eyes. I bit down hard but the hand was like a rock and I wasn't able to even leave a teethmark.

I was shoved against something hard, hitting my head slightly in the process. I ran my hands along the hard substance and discovered it was a brick wall. I tried to bite down again but still the hand was hard. It didn't taste like human flesh. My captor chuckled, a evil menacing laugh. The hands were taken from my eyes and mouth and I looked up into familar looking sea blue eyes but with different features surrounding them.

It wasn't Blank. He yanked me by hair and shoved me harder against the wall, his nostrils flaring. I could hear Brittani calling my name in the distance. "Yell and I will snap your neck so fast you won't even see it coming. I don't care if you are The Promised One."

"But she's going to keep calling my name until she sees I am okay." I muttered. His eyes flashed.

"Okay" he told me as he pushed me back toward the pathway. Once we were at the edge of the sidewalk, he let loose of my hair and lay flat on the ground out of sight. "Try to run and know I will catch you. Tell her you're alright and to go on home and you will see her later." He snarled.

I took a deep breath and cleared my throat, Brittani glanced around, her lips spreading into a smile as she saw me. She skipped over, "What's going on? What are you doing?"

"Nothing. Some boys from across the way thought it would be funny to pretend to kidnapp a girl, but it's totally not. Go on to my house and I will meet you there. I going to stay behind and give them a piece of my mind." I explained to her trying to keep my heart from racing and my breathing shallow.

"Alexa, are you sure you're okay?" she asked coming closer. My captor's hand reached out and seized an unbreakable grip around my ankle. i almost fell but caught myself.

"I'm fine. I'll see you at my house, okay." She looked skeptical and I pleaded in my mind for her to go.

"Alright, if you say so." she said turning around. I watched her go and sighed in relief. As soon as she rounded the corner, my captor yanked me back so fast I probably had a case of whiplash.

Soon we were back where we started, my back against the brick wall again. He smiled showing some extra pointy canine teeth. He brushed the hair away from my neck and leaned forward. I closed my eyes, felt a burst of wind coming from my right, and soon his hands weren't on me anymore. I looked around and saw Blank holding my captor against the wall, his eyes flashing angrily. He glanced in my direction and said one simple word, "Run."

I took off never questioning what was going on. I just took his advice and ran as fast as my legs would carry me, never glancing back.
