A/N: Sorry it has taken so long to write another chapter but as you know school has started back and I have A.P. Calculus this year. So I didn't have time to write with all the homework but here you go and I hope you enjoy. Thanx for reading.

Chapter 5

I had never run that fast before in my life but then again I had also never been scared for it. I just kept running not really even slowing down even when my house came into view. I was out of breath and my heart was racing. I took a few seconds, standing outside my mahogany front door, counting slowly and trying to maintain my heart rate. I didn't want to make my family or Brittani suspicious.

After I was sure that I was as calm as possible I slowly twisted the doorknob and slipped inside. I was hoping to just make a short appearance in the living room and then race upstairs to my room, but my dog Lovely had other ideas. As soon as I stepped foot in the living room, Lovely left her perch between my older brother's legs and came bounding towards me, jumping into my arms and knocking me down with the force of it.

This was such an unusual thing because Lovely is not a huge dog, she can't even be called big but her energy was enough for anyone. Lovely was a Golden-haired Pomeranian, just as cute as she could be. She licked my face eagerly and I just couldn't stop laughing because her tongue was ticklish. I sat up and pulled Lovely off me. My family never even batted an eye at the scene that had just occurred in front of them. It was commonplace in this household.

I swung her around so that she was comfortably lying in my arms and then turned around and retreated upstairs to my room. I swung my bedroom door open with a slam and also scared Brittani half to death. The first thing I saw entering the room was a flash of red as she practically threw herself off my bed. She peeked out from behind the bedspread when she saw it was me. Who else was it going to be, storming into my room besides me. Told you she was over dramatic. I put Lovely down and she went around sniffing everything curiously like she had never seen it before.

I flopped down on my bed and sighed. Brittani stood up and came to sit next to me. Brushing my hair away from my face, she said, " What's wrong. Did those boys do something to you. I will kill their asses." I turned away from her. "They didn't do anything, I just feel like being alone right now. Do you mind if you spend the night another night?" I peeked over my shoulder to see her response. She seemed okay. "Yeah sure. Another time." she said turning around to grab her stuff and go.

"Bye, Brit"

"Bye" she mumbled over her shoulder as she shut my bedroom door. I kinda felt bad but I needed time to think about the events that had happened today.

~****~

Later that night, I was finding it hard to get to sleep, which was strange because I was usually out like a light by 11:00. But tonight I was tossing and turning and I kept seeing that boy everytime I closed my eyes about to bite me only this time Blank didn't come to stop him. I was just about to give up and turn on the tv when I heard a knock on my window. I got up and looked out and was scared half to death by what I saw. Blank was hanging on the side of my house with no ladder anywhere in sight. There wasn't even a tree for him to climb up.

I was just staring at him slack-jawed when he knocked again and mimed a person opening the window. Still in shock, I didn't really get it. He performed the gesture again and I finally opened the window. He climbed inside and looked briefly around. "Hmm. I didn't expect your room to look like this. Anyways" He stood in the middle of the room with his arms crossed like there was nothing wrong with him being there.

"Umm. How did you get here?" I questioned since it looked like he was perfectly comfortable standing there.

"Oh, uh. I followed you home, I've been waiting outside for your family to go to sleep so I could talk to you."

"Well, I don't want to talk to you so you can just go home" I said turning my back on him.

He walked around so he was in front of me again. "But I have to talk to you about what happened earlier."

"Well, I don't want to talk about it. So you can leave"

He crossed back over to window and sat on the ledge with one foot hanging out of my room. "Alright suit yourself but it will happen again."

He watched as my eyes bucked and I froze up. "Wait don't go" He smiled that brillant smile of his and flipped his hair out of his eyes.

"Okay I thought you would say that. Grab my hand" He said holding his hand out to me.

"Why?"

"So I can carry outside. I don't your parents to hear us"

"Well, we can use the front door." He gave me a bogus look and I realized how stupid that sounded so I grabbed his hand.

"Close your eyes." he commanded. I did as I was told and felt a sudden whoosh of air and then solid ground. When I opened my eyes we were in my backyard. My nice boring backyard with nothing as far as the eye could see but a old almost broken down bench. Seriously my backyard was majorly depressing.

He pulled me toward the bench and we both sat down. The swayed a little and creaked loudly from the increased pressure of our weights. I swear I thought it was going to fall in.

"So, what's going on?"

"I have to start at the beginning so you can understand."

"Is this a long story because I need to sleep."

"Shh. Well I guess you can tell by ordinary myths and such that I and that guy that attacked you are both Vampires" He looked toward me for some recognition and I nodded my head. "Well we are but we like to call ourselves Vampri and we are very different from the urban myths that you hear." He glanced at me again to see my reaction. I had visibly paled but I hadn't tried to run. Satisfied he continued, "We do drink blood but we are not undead. We are sensitive to sun but can't be killed by it. But the major difference is we are not made or created, we are born just like you. We are just a different race of people." "We were human a couple of thousand of years ago but our environment made us evolve into what you see before you today and even when we left we found out the evolution was permanent and even our children not born there would become just like us."

"So why are you here?" I managed to ask.

"Because we are dying out. There are only a few families left and now there is noone to reproduce with that is not blood-related to us. We need somebody to have kids with. In legends there is a human every generation born who has some kind of abnormality that assimilates her with us that makes her able to carry and have a Vampri child. We need that child to carry on our race. Some of us are so desperate to keep our race alive that we will take this so-called "Promised One" by force which is what happened today."

"What does this have to do with me?"

He looked at me like I was crazy and I stared right back at him. I really didn't understand but his next words would change me for life.

"It has to do with you because you are this generation's "Promised One". You are our savior."
