Chapter Three

Rain:

We got to the school grounds earlier than expected,we still had twenty-seven minutes. It was starting to rain so we went ahead and went in. we usually went to the library first thing and waited there until the bell rang. We walked through the doors and as usual it wasn’t packed. We made our way past the rows of tables and then past the shelves. We turned at the third one to the end and made our way to our usual spots on the beige sofas. I got out my notebook as soon as we took a seat next to each other and lifted my legs up onto the chair. I began to work on our math homework we had for our first hour. He got out his too. We hadn’t finished it yesterday because we got tired and fell asleep. We only had a few algebra equations left.

“I hate math.” I said with a sigh.

“Yeah me too. I mean who’s going to need the Pythagorean Theorem in the real world. I only need adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.” He said huffing and setting his head back in frustration. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Well you suck at multiplication.” I said matter-of-factly and shrugged my shoulders.

“Besides we aren’t even working on the Pythagorean Theorem. These are quadratic equations.” I said shaking my head and laughing.

“Well what ever. I don’t need it!” he said taking out a pencil.

We continued to do our homework until the bell rang. We just finished the last one and got our stuff and left. We went to our lockers that were right next to each other and left our bags inside while we took the books we needed out. Once we were done we made our way to class and in just as the bell rang. I automatically heard the routine giggles we normally heard upon walking into class. As usual it was coming from Elma Serdina and her minions.

Elma, also known as Elly, didn’t like us. Ever since the second week when we returned I had corrected her about her name. I didn’t mean to it just slipped. She was going on about how her name, Elma, meant like goddess in Italian. And I knowing some Italian corrected her and said it didn’t mean goddess. It meant helmet. I didn’t mean it in a mean way or even say it in a mean tone but since then she was a bitch towards us. She was a bitch toward most people actually. The teachers and students both somewhat feared her because she was the town’s sheriff’s daughter. She is also; you guessed it, the head cheerleader, which is why she had minions.

One of her minions was Alicia Montgomery. She too was a cheerleader. She’s also from a respected family and also wealthy. Her father is a doctor and her mother is a lawyer. Of course they are hardly home from what we’ve heard and her house is where most of the parties happen. Of course we’ve never gone to one or were even invited. But it’s hard to ignore the huge gossips that are in our school. Alicia does what ever Elly tells her too, even if it means taking the fall for something she didn’t do or being a bitch towards us.

The third of her three main minions is Vinnette Calling she also goes by her nickname Vinny. She isn’t a cheerleader but she is a member of student council. Her dark brown hair and her pessimistic way of thinking in addition to her monotone way of speaking make it hard to believe she has a lot of school spirit. She isn’t a cheerleader like Elly and Alicia, due to her lack of agility, and she isn’t as bitchy either. She is though when they’re present. I think she actually likes us, especially Nicholas. He helped her in the library once and I could sense he made her nervous and she was physically attracted.

“What are you thinking about?” Nicholas thought coming in loud and clear into my mind breaking me out of thought.

“Sorry.” I thought back giving him an apologetic smile.

I heard Elly let out a giggle once again. And couldn’t help but look in her direction where she sat to the right across from us diagonally in the middle of the room.

“What’s up with her look?” She whispered as she leaned into Vinny and Alicia then turned and mockingly waved at me.

She moved her blonde hair off her shoulder and behind her. She gave me a devilish smirk and turned towards the front as the teacher began to speak. I felt my wolf react to my anger more than myself. I gripped the corner of my chair struggling not to go over there and mess up her freshly dyed hair and cause her to ruin her fresh manicure. I think all three had a fresh manicure because I could still smell the left over toxins from where I was sitting across the room, it was almost overwhelming.

“Pass your paper up.” Nicholas ordered elbowing me.

I did, then took a look around the room. We would have almost had perfect attendance. The only two missing were Seth and his best friend Samuel. I looked across the room towards the back straight to the right of us in the back row. Cody Step was once again sitting silently with his nose buried in his book. He was also an outsider in the school. He was the weirdo/bad boy of the school. Everyone thought he was weird because he was obsessed with werewolves. I didn’t think he was weird because he was into them and believed in them because I knew for a fact they were real but I didn’t want to make friends with him either. If he was as smart about those types of things as everyone said I didn’t want to risk us getting found out. I didn’t talk to him much. He did have all of my classes with me though but still it wasn’t hard to stay away from him. I had him in algebra, physical education, mythology and then again in art. In only one he actually sat next to me but we hardly actually carried a conversation. I did find him interesting. Not only did he have a nice scent but he also had a nice voice and a way with speaking. The few times we spoke I caught myself hanging on to every word. He was actually pretty cute when he had his nose out of his books or drawings. He had shaggy brown hair and dark brown eyes. It went well with his complexion though. He was semi tanned and he almost always wore a faux leather jacket.

The door opening to the class got me to look in that direction. In walked Seth Vincent and his best friend Samuel Davis also know as Sam. They took a seat next to the Elly and her girls like it was no big deal they were late. Seth was with Elly they were the classic football player head cheerleader couple. Sam wasn’t with any of them he was just there but from what went around school he was a player. Seth on the other hand was an alright guy. He wasn’t an ass like most of the football team including Sam. He respected girls and adults. Besides what I’ve heard I really don’t know much about him but we have all our classes together. Thankfully Elly isn’t in all of them because then I would have to feel her death glares all day long like I was feeling right now. I looked to her and sure enough she was glaring. She leaned over to the group and again decided to whisper.

“Looks like someone’s checking my guy out, I should kick her ass.” she whispered with a bit of attitude.

All four of them decided to turn and look. I quickly averted my eyes to my desk as if I had a paper on there I was focused on. But I could still feel their stares. I sighed and slouched in my chair. This was going to be a long day.
