Settling In

We settled into our new one bedroom apartment. Goodbye having my own room. The corner of the kitchen would now be where I would spend my days.

All the while I kept saying to myself, “This isn’t real. This is not happening. This is not my life.”

I must admit, it took a very long time for everything to finally begin to sink in.

No more friends to take me out to the mall in my wheelchair. No more friends to invite me to a movie  or their home. That was over. And so I finally realized what it truly meant to be alone.

For months I would stay in bed, not seeing the outside world. My only contact with it was done through my computer.

And so now we get to today.

Thank you so much for the kind words Michelle. Not a lot of people read this story, but it was a very hard time for me, and i felt writing was all i had.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment.
