Chapter 8

Andy’s POV:

“Why, why, why!” I couldn’t hold in my anger and ended up punching a hole through my bedroom wall. Good thing I missed the 2x4 behind it, other wise I would have broken a knuckle or something. “Why can’t Jessica look at me the same way she looks at him?” I begin to recall the carnival, to anyone else it probably looked like she was watching Stephanie, but I could see it in her expression that she was watching Roy.

“How can I get her to feel the same way I do about her? Why am I such a coward that I can’t tell her how I feel? No matter how hard or how many times I try, I can’t tell her.” Tears begin to fill my eyes as I continue to think about her. “At this rate I’m going to lose her to him.”

I can remember the first day I met her. It was the beginning of my freshmen year…

Flash Back:

“Damn I’m going to be late!” I said to myself as I was running towards the school. I passed the front gait and ran into the school. It was the first day and I didn’t want to set a bad impression with the teacher.

As I turned the corner I ran full force into someone knocking her down. “I’m so sorry, are you OK?” I asked extending my hand to help up the girl I had knocked down.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She said, as she looked up reaching out for my hand.

My heart skipped a beat when she looked up at me. Her beautiful, flowing black hair, and her gorgeous blue eyes, all went perfectly with her cute face. “Um… I uh…” I couldn’t say anything. I was at a loss for words.

“Well, I got to get going. See you later.” She gave me a smile as she began to walk away. It was such an amazing smile. If I died right now, I could die happy.

“Wait!” I shouted without knowing what I was going to say next.

She turned around and gave me a confused look. “Yes?”

“Umm… well… It’s just that…” Common Andy! Think of something to say! “It’s just that I really am sorry. Will you make it up to you?”

“No, it’s fine, really.”

“Common, at least let me buy you lunch?” Damn, I sounded like I was begging that time. I must look really pathetic right now.

She stood there thinking a while before she gave me an answer. “OK.” She said with a smile on her face. “Meet me at the cafeteria door lunch time.”

“Yeah, see you at lunch.” I said happily. She turned around and began to walk away again. “Wait! I never got your name! I’m Andrew Williams.”

She looked back at me with the cutest smile I’ve ever seen. “Jessica, Jessica Turner.” And with that she walked away, and was soon out of sight.

“Jessica…” I couldn’t stop thinking about her, and how happy I was. I was going to spend my lunch break with such a beautiful girl! Soon the bell broke my train of thought… the bell? “Shit I’m late for class!”

As class went on, I counted the seconds, as I waited for lunch break to come. “Mr. Williams.” I looked up at the teacher and saw she was glaring at me. “Care to answer the problem on the board.”

“Um… well… *Sigh* I can’t.” I said, embarrassed.

“Well maybe you should pay more attention to me than you do the window?”

I lowered my head in defeat as the rest of the class started to giggle. “Yes Mrs. Cull.”

At lunch break Mrs. Cull kept me an extra five minuets to give me a lecture. “Damn, I’m going to be late!” I said to myself running through the halls. But yet again, I turned the corner and knocked someone down. “I’m so sorry, are you OK?” I realized it was Jessica I was talking to as I extended my hand to help her up again.

She began to laugh when she got up and brushed herself off. “We got to stop meeting like this.” She said, laughing at her own joke, but her laughter calmed me in a way you couldn’t imagine.

“Yeah, sorry about that?”

“No, it’s OK. It’s really sweet that you were hurrying for me.” I couldn’t believe what I had heard. She thinks I’m sweet. I quickly snapped out of it when I looked at the clock.

“Well since I knocked you down twice now, you can have as much as you want my treat.”

“I think I’ll take you up on that offer.” She said giving me the same smile she did before. I would give anything if she would smile at me like that all the time.

We began to talk when we sat down for lunch. We got to know each other and soon became close friends. After that Stephanie, and Betty joined the circle and we’ve all been together since. But it was when I got to know her wonderful personality that I realized I was completely in love with Jessica.

Present Day:

“Who is Roy, and what is it about him that caught Jessica’s heart in a matter of days, where I’ve failed to do so these past few years?” I hated myself for not being able to tell Jess how I felt. If I didn’t do something soon, I really would lose Jessica to him. Then I remembered something Betty mentioned to me before.

Betty: “Yeah, apparently he moved here because of something that happened to him in New York.”

I pulled out my phone and uploaded a picture of Roy that I had taken at the carnival, onto my computer and posted the picture online with a message next to it.

“Does anyone know this man?”
