Okay so the way I played this in my head as I saw Nana’s angry look was me being slapped and her walking away but I was wrong. I was surprised when she immediately softened her look and walked around the counter to give me a hug. She didn’t care if she could or not she just did as she pleased. I melted in her arms and I could immediately feel my tears as they ran down my face, which caused Sherry to come running to me.
“Hey sugar, you okay?” Sherry asked as she saw me crying. I didn’t realize until Nana stiffened what damage Sherry’s comment would cause. Nana pulled back and even though she was still hugging me I could see the hurt in her eyes as she looked at me and let go.
“I believed that you were different.” Nana said as she took Timmy’s hand and started walking to the door. However this time I was determined and I wasn’t about to let her take the chance I had to be a part of them again.
“Nana, it’s not what it sounded like, Sherry is just a friend.” I said as I basically held on to Nana’s arm as I fell to my knees.
“Child, I believed you loved her and here you are with your other lover.” Nana said as she pulled me up.
“Nana I am different, this is my friend, she’s letting me work here. Mary, my friend and roommate made me get off my bed and come to work. But I swear to you Nana she is nothing but a friend.” I said almost begging he to believe me.
“Is this true?” Nana asked Sherry and Sherry nodded as she came to Nana explaining all that Mary had told her. Nana kept looking at me and I could see the worry in her eyes and I knew that my face was burning in shame about how I’ve been living. I kept looking down and finally noticed Timmy looking at me and I could see that he wanted to come to me.
So he did he let go of Nana’s hand and at last he came to hug me. I looked down at him but he too was looking down so all I did was hold him closer. I sat down on one of the chairs that were in the middle of the store so that I could hold Timmy.
Timmy put his arms around my neck and just leaned in against me and I could feel his tears as he held me, hell I’m sure he could feel mine too as I held him tightly. I knew that this child in my arms was like an angel. I felt the rumble of his words against my chest, and no not my boobs, but I couldn’t define his words.
“Timmy, I can’t understand you.” I said and Timmy pulled back to look at me.
“I said why did you leave my mommy?” Timmy said as he rubbed his tears away with his fists.
“I…she didn’t want me anymore.” I said as I looked down not being able to look at him in the face. I mean this is incredible that a child could make me feel like a child who is about to get time out.
“She still wants you… my mommy loves you. Every night she screams your name, I don’t know why but I think she dreams of you.”
“I think she has nightmares.” Said as I gave him a weak smile. Timmy moved his hands to my cheeks and made me look in his eyes.
“Valerie, my mommy loves you, she does I know it because she tells me that she still loves you but that she can’t be with you.”
“Did she tell you why?” I said as I cried against his hands and he just stood there holding my face not caring that his hands were getting wet by my tears.
“No, she doesn’t tell me, she thinks I am too young but I know…I heard Nana and my mommy talking about it. You hurt her…well not you but your friends, and my mommy feels hurt. She said that she really loved you but you hurt her very bad and she has a cut in her heart ne that you left. At first I hated you Valerie but now I know that you tried stopping them and I know you still love my mommy. So I forgive you fir hurting her but if you don’t go to my mommy and make her feel better I will hate you… well not really but I will be sad when I see you because you hurt her even more. I love my mommy and I know that she loves you and you love her, but she need s to forgive and forget so that she can be happy.” Timmy said and… well I couldn’t do anything but sob at his words. I mean who talks like this at his age?
Timmy held me again but this time he had my head against his chest holding me almost as if I was the child. I was sobbing my heart out to this child, this baby and all he did was just comfort me. I don’t really know how long were like that but it was enough to make Timmy tired.
“Um Valerie?” I heard Timmy say.
“Yes?” I said as I pulled up wiping my face with my shirt, yes I know it was disgusting but I had nothing else.
“You were getting to heavy for me to hold.” Timmy said as he smiled.
”It was only my head.” I said and protest.
“I know but you have a big head” Timmy said as he started laughing and I couldn’t help myself but laugh along with him even though he was making fun of me.
I went towards him and planned on tickling him but he ran away. So what did I, an adult, do, I ran after him. Sherry and Nana were looking at us as we ran around the store. They looked at each other before hollering at us to stop and what did we do, we joined teams and we hid behind a bookcase that Sherry had.
Timmy smiled at me and held his finger to his lips telling me to be quiet. I nodded and just as we stopped giggling I tackled him and picked him up carrying him back to Nana and Sherry.
“Traitor.” Timmy yelled at me and I just tickled him even more, which made him, fall from my hands to his knees and just as he was about to stand up I heard her voice again.
“Okay Nana I understand that you and Timmy love movies but this is just crazy.” Sam said but she didn’t see me straight away she was looking down at her phone. However when she was met by silence for everyone had turned stone cold and quiet that’s when she looked up and met my eyes.
