Chapter 10: Ballistic

"What do you mean she escaped?!" The Director roars.

His lab assistant stutters terribly, being terrified of this outburst of rage.

"S-she got out through a water drain in EX80A's containment chamber. I-I don't know what to say but... sorry."

"...No... sorry will never be enough... for this fatal mistake..." He points a pistol at her, and heartlessly shoots her in the head.

"I will not tolerate failure from my subordinates."

Gunther strolls in, the right side of his head covered in bandages. His left eye falls on the girl, and a flash of anger enters his eye.

"Why would you do that?"

The Director growls, and puts his pistol away.

"Are you braindamaged from your injury? Because you should know! If word of Project Revolution reaches the American people's ears, we are done for. Human rights... crimes against humanity..."

Gunther pales a little.

"What we are doing here is... illegal. You knew that when you first requested our services. As our contractor... this affects you just as much as it does me."

Gunther begins to walk out, but the blast doors slam shut.

"Gunther. If you dare try to betray me, I'll bring you and those close to you down with me. Don't you forget that. If you want to not end up behind bars, you WILL help me get them back."

Gunther turns around. "Them?" He asks cooly.

"EX0L8 took two other experiments with her, Angel and Centaur. ...Although, that may be a mistake on her part. They both have yet to complete their evolutions... and that time when they activate will be soon."

Gunther's eye narrows.

"That's very nice, but incase you haven't noticed, I got slapped in the head by a girl stronger than Superman. I need to rest, I'm returning to Washington D.C. this friday."

The Director scowls.

"Fine. However, once she reaches L.A, it's up to you to stop her. Her target is no doubt... Florida."

Gunther raises an eyebrow. "Florida? What's so special about Florida?"

The Director smiles cruely.

"It's where she was found. And also... the object of her desire lives there as well."

The Director chuckles as Gunther looks puzzled by his words.

"She's like an animal, she's searcing for what people refer to as a 'Soulmate'."

"So... can she... reproduce?!"

The Director laughs. "Of course she can. That's the point. To create a new species of humanity! There's two parts to this. Reproduction and..."

Gunther pales. "You're not seriously going to tell me... that she is capable of infecting others?!"

"Correct." The Director says cooly.

An alarm goes off.

"What now?!" He roars.

"Sir! Two FBI agents are here at the front gates!!! Also, we've picked up EX0L8! She's about to break through the grate at Gate B!!!"

The Director takes his shades off and flings them across the room, his blazing icy blue eyes burn with fury.

"Your day has gone to hell, hasn't it?" Gunther says with an edge of a cynical side to his voice, but he knows the danger as well as the Director does.

Gate B would be right in view of the FBI agents... This is very, very bad.
