Chapter 4: Motive

The black general strolled into the laboratory, humming quite softly. He knew what was going on here, everyone in the military did. Except the president. Too soft for what was happening here behind these closed doors. Countless awards and medals decorate his green bullet-proof vest. His light brown eyes light up with delight when he sees the man he came to see, the Director of Project Revolution himself.

"The Director himself, I'm honored by your presence. I very much appreciate your hard work." He says in a light, very soft and silky voice.

"Is that so, General Gunther? Ha ha ha! I assume you're here to see how the project is coming along?" The Director's loud, commanding voice sharply contrasts the general's own voice.

"That is correct. I heard you had a... private, project. May I see?" Gunther's curiosity rang clear, he wants to see everything.

The Director growls a little. "No. ...She is my personal project, your military scientists almost ruined her. She developed split personality disorder, and now is becoming almost psychopathic!"

Gunther looks baffled. "Is that not the reason we commissioned this project? To create superhuman warriors to fight against Russia?" His voice rings clean with confusion.

"Yes, ReconTech's purpose is to manufacture human weapons for the war effort. However, EX0L8, my private project, is a more... evolved, venture. It's not that I don't trust you, Gunther." The Director puts a hand on the general's shoulder. "But I don't trust your men. They already have damaged her, perhaps permanently."

Gunther sighs. "I'm sorry about my men, Issac. I'll give them a firm lecture. I promise, I WILL make it up to you."

The Director's mouth twitches at the mention of his name. Regardless, he breaks into a faint smile.

"When I'm done with your tour, I'll let you meet her. However, I will warn you that she's already killed two people, and severely injured another. You have to have exceeding caution around her. Is that understood?"

Gunther nods his head in aknowledgement.

"Shall we go then?" He asks politely.

The Director nods briefly, then begins to walk away, indicating for Gunther to follow. The Director walks over to an iron door, guarded by twelve guards.

"We are seeing EX80A today. Don't get in the way, and don't bother him while we're talking." The Director says flatly, and the guards nod in aknowledgement, and step aside for them.

"Follow me, and stay close. EX8OA is very tempermental, especially if provoked. That's why we are wearing heat suits now." He indicates two thick heat suits to Gunther, which strike him like astronaut suits.

"So I take it that it's quite dangerous?" Gunther asks with excitement.

"Yes, very. He is one of the projects I intend to hand over to you. Now, let me introduce you."

A huge blast door slides open, and a huge chamber of steel opens before them. Chained to the floor is a strange being. Its body is male, with the appearance of molten rock for skin.

As the Director approaches, its head rises up slowly, untill two gleaming molten eyes look at him, and a fiery smile spreads across his face.

"Hello, father. It is quite joyous to see you once again." The experiment's voice echos, as though the flame he embodies is speaking for him.

Gunther looks ath the Director.

"Umm..."

The Director cuts him off. "No, it thinks of me as one though." The Director turns his attention to EX8OA. "This here is General Gunther. He is very interested in your power. Be a good boy for him, and you'll get to be outside all the time."

EX8OA's eyes widen with joy. "Oh yes, father. Anything to please you. When do we begin?"

The Director smiles. "Very soon, EX8OA."

After several more hours, they finish touring the facility.

"So, Director," Gunther says, seated in front of the Director's desk, "What about EX0L8?"

The Director looks at him. "You can see her tommorow. But I think you've seen plenty today. After all, EX0L8 is the most... challenging... to deal with. You'll get to see her soon, I promise."

That is... if we don't have another complication.
