Part two: Mustering the Gang

The First Victim

It’s a very sunny day in Lake Havasu City in Arizona. The sun is very tight on the streets and is leaving nothing to its mercy. But inside a big white house, fenced with Sunflowers lives a beautiful girl.

Her name is Dawn. She has beautiful black hair that hangs languidly to her back, her skin is lightly tone, her body is thin and curvy and her face bones are jutted. She has the eyes of honey and the smile of Aphrodite.

She is happy.

Her heart is throbbing in allegory. She is nineteen years old and she’s getting the acceptance of her boyfriend’s family. She’s excited and she can feel that everything will be a total success. His parents will accept her, welcome her and might even recommend her for a marriage partner.

Dawn loves Jude and Jude loves Dawn.

But Dawn doesn’t know that her life is about to take a twist.A radical twist.

She’s fixing her hair trying to make it look full and wavy. She wants to be loved by his family. She looks at herself in the mirror and smiles at her. She has millions of Endorphins and Neurotransmitters working around her body to her favor. She can’t contain her smile.

It’s a plague.

There’s a horn coming from outside. She shrieks and get up. It’s Jude; he’s there to pick her up.Her body shivers in happiness. The day is going to be exciting as eating Buttermilk pancakes in the morning, at least for Dawn.

She enters the car and Jude implants a light yet powerful kiss on her lips. She breath tremble, she wants to devour his hot body. He’s built but not in excess, the shadow of his beard gives him a wild look, his black Faux-Hawk brown hair gives him a Jude Law look merging with his pale skin. His pink thin lips are enough distraction to kiss forever and his dimples along with his smile melt Dawn in any second.

Jude smiles.

Dawn’s face fills with glee.

“You ready love?” he asks her excited.

“More than ready” she expresses.

He smiles, kisses her again and turns his Black and White Mustang Convertible.

It Vroom’s loudly and then, off they go.

Dawn is ready, to give it all. She’s even ready to marry her long time boyfriend Jude. Their relationship is a hit and even more when she’s been with him since she’s fifteen.

“Do you think they’ll like me?” she asks having second thoughts.

“Of course they will baby! Believe me when I say that they have nothing bad to say about you. You are as perfect as any woman comes” he assured Dawn smiling.

She smiled back “I love you enough to built a house in hearts”

“I love you enough to crawl all the humans DNA put together” he says smiling.

“I wonder where that would take you” she wonders.

“To the sun and even if I melt, it’s all right because I did it for you” he says looking at her smiling and puckering his lips calling for a kiss.

She leans and gives it to him.

For a second everything seemed perfect and color purple for Dawn.

The next, not so good.

A white van impacts the Mustang while they are on their simple kiss. A loud CRASH. Dawn’s body shoots outside through the window shattering it to million pieces and landing on her back on the ground. Her body is filled with blood and by her side is lake of it. Jude heads bang on the steering wheel and blood sprays. The impact throws his head back and forth again, banging for the last time with the hard metal steering wheel.

The landing causes Dawn a broken leg bone and elbow. She has crystal all over her palms that are oozing blood.

The van starts the car and drives away.

The sound of the car running away sparks Dawn senses. She’s hurt and she can’t get up.

What happened? She thinks. She raises her bloody hands and looks at them. Her eyes widen and her body strikes in panic.

She begins to huff.

She screams wanting for this entire bad dream to be over.

The bad news? It’s not a dream, its reality.

“Jude? Jude? Baby can you listen to me?” she screams but she hears no response. She grunts loudly as she tries to move, but there’s no success there. She tries to move her head to look for any sign of people but there’s also no success.

She gasps. Her body shoots pain all over again. She screams in pain, she can feel it more than happiness. She can’t adjust.

The sun tightens, burning on her skin.

Now there’s an ambulance wailing. She feels hope and it triggers her to move her body. She sits very slowly. Her body aches and her hand burn in pain. She cries, the pain is bewildering.

Now there’s a screeching of tires not too far from her. It’s coming closer and closer. Her body is frigid, she can’t move it. It hurts too much. She vans get’s closer and stop dead on its track next to Dawn. The door rustles open and a hand comes out. It grabs Dawn by her recently bought Channel dress and lifts her up without any effort.

Dawn struggles. She wants to be set free. She’s in pain. She wants to see Jude for God’s sake. The door closes and she’s forever trapped. She can look outside the window and everything becomes slow motion.

There’s Jude his head is resting weak on the steering wheel. There’s blood dribbling from his head and staining the carpet. That’s not a good sign. There’s an ambulance guy that comes out and touches Jude necks. He sighs dramatically and goes to the ambulance. Dawn wonders what’s wrong. She wants out of the van but she’s too weak to fight.

The guy comes back with the wheeling bed.

The van stops.

Now there are two ambulance guys. They lift the body of Jude and place it in the bed. One of themchecks the pulse. He shakes his head and covers Jude’s face.

“What? What? No! No! Please God! No! This is a dream right? Please tell me it is” Dawn says as she watches Jude on the wheeling bed being taking inside the ambulance.

He’s dead.

“Noooo! Baby? Noooo!” she begins to sob. She looks around “Let me out! Please let me out. My baby is there. My love. JUDE! Pleaaase.Someone?” she screams pounding hard the window.

The vans purrs and off it goes.A guy dressed in black and with a mask joins the scene. He grabs her arm and injects her.

“Welcome, Dawn” he said in a deep tone.

Her sight starts to blur. She can see black spots. She feels weak, the pain ceases. She can’t see. It’s all black.

She’s out!

The van drives desperately in the streets. It arrives to an airport and from a private jet comes two guys dressed at doctors. The hold the body of Dawn and take her inside the Jet. They’ve been waiting for her. They have all the medical information to help her cure.

They have and they will.

But for Dawn, her life as a pretty rich girl is over. There’s a new one beginning and it’s making sure she’s ready for it.

Three Weeks Later

A loud thud breaks Dawn’s dream. She blinks her eyes open and sits straight. Her body feels awkward. She’s been sleeping for the last three weeks since the accident, but of course she doesn’t know that. She’s resting in a wide open space, where the grass covers her up. She tries to get up but her body refuses. She’s too weak to get up. Her feet wobble and lands again on her knees.

She’s bewildered. She doesn’t understand where she is. The only thing running through her mind is using her legs, she needs to use them, and she has to use them. She tries again, putting all her strength and finally her body collaborates and stays up.Next, try to get the feet of the ground and walk. She feels like a baby, know she understands what Mr. Appplebum, her psychology teacher, once said about growing up with instincts. She goes for a blind of nothing and she can. Her feet move willingly and she is walking. She doesn’t where she is.

The cold strikes her. She trembles. She realizes she’s wearing a dress. She looks at it with precise curiosity. There are blood stains on the dress. She even can smell the blood, she finds the smell appealing and so she licks the nearest stain to her face. But of course there’s no taste.

She keeps walking for minutes, trying to find a place in this freaking cold place.

“Where am I? What happened?” she asks herself, but she can’t remember.

She watches her hands quizzically cocking her head to the side and it strikes her. She kneels down holding her head. She thinks it’s going to drop of her body and roll away.

It’s too heavy.

She screams, a shrieking scream. The pain ceases.

“Judeeeeee” she screams sobbing.“Oh God where the hell am I? What has happened to me? Where’s my mother and my dad?” she talks to herself.

Then in the horizon maybe a mile away she sees a tiny market. She stands up and runs to it. She feels parched. She imagines running towards a big bucket of water. But is it really water what she wants?

After minutes of running slow, she arrives to the market. She opens drastically the front door. A husky boy with blonde hair salutes her. Then he freaks out, seeing the turquoise Channel dress stained in blood. His eyes widen and his jaw drops.

Dawn avoids contacting him and runs to the fridges where water, that seems like little pots of gold, lie.She rampages the door, grabs a bottle of water and jugs it down her throat. She feels the tingling sensation.

She thinks of Jude and she chokes. She collapses to the ground and begins to sob. The worker sees her in so much pain that he decides to help her.

“Hey are you all right?” he kneels down and pats her back.

“No! I’m lost I don’t know where I am. All I got is the memory of what happened last in my life and it’s involved with a car crash that I don’t want to talk about” Dawn sobs.

“Hey is Okay! Don’t worry. I have an extra room in the back if you want to crash for the night” the kid says very welcoming. “By the way my name is Leroy” he introduces himself.

“Hi Leroy, my name is Dawn” she says back.

Leroy helps Dawn up. She walks to the chair behind the counter and she sits.

“You are a very risky person” Dawn says and suddenly pushes a smile.

Leroy eyes smile along with his whole face.

“Why do you say that?” he asks her.

“You are letting someone unknown sit behind the counter and then sleeping in your house? What happens if I’m here to rob you” Dawn says.

“Well, then I’m the stupidest person alive.Because I let being a Good Samaritan win over by such a beautiful girl” he says honestly.

She smiles.

Her heart throbs and so does her throat, which still parches.

“Thanks” she says in an almost whisper.

He smiles back.

“Can you tell me where are we?” She asks Leroy.

“You are in Aroostook, Maine” he says picking up from the floor a box filled with M&M’s. “You want some. Is good for your adrenaline” he says offering her an M&M.

She smiles “Maine? I’m in Maine? What the hell?” she slaps the M&M out of his hand.

She feels furious but she doesn’t understand. She looks at him and he stands in front of her reading her expression. He knows what she wants to do. Escape.

“You are not leaving! It’s not safe” he warns her.

Her eyes transfix his body and she sees his blood cascading throughout his body. Her throat tingles and becomes rasp. She grabs hold of her throat and pushes him aside and leaves the store.

What the hell is going on? Have I been kidnapped? Why am I in Maine? What does this mean? I’m going to keep walking until I find a place or a police station. I need to return home, in Arizona. Damn I’m freaking far away- she thinks as she walks the dark streets.

She doesn’t know where she’s going but she wants to find an exit to the whole problem she’s in right now.

The only thing she us fund about that her throat is acting unnatural and so does her sight. She can see through human bodies? What a freak! She keeps walking.

Then she faces a guy, a burglar apparently because he has a knifegripping in his hands.

She gaps.
