Author Chapter Note

Based off of the song, Never Again, as recorded by Kelly Clarkson :D Hehe, it's gonna get interesting. This is no ordinary breakup story.

Kyle and Katy are completely in love-- or so she thinks. But at the party of the year, hosted by Kyle, Katy finds things may not be as they seem between the 'love of her life' and herself.

I grinned as Kyle kissed me gently on the nose and walked out the door. I closed it behind him, skipping and dancing into the kitchen.

He's so amazing, I thought to myself as I sank down into one of the wooden chairs. Kyle was my everything. My love, my life. My family. I was abandoned as a child, left in a burnt home after my parents died in the fire that destroyed it. Kyle had found me. That was when we were fifteen-- we were both eighteen now. And our love had grown those three years. I smiled as I thought of his punk-rocker black hair that always fell in his striking gray eyes, and his muscular arm that was almost continually wrapped around me.

Now I had a house of my own, thanks to Kyle's parents. It was nice, living on my own. They helped me pay my bills, paid in partial for the gas for my new car. Which they bought for me. It's really nice.

No joke. Unless you don't think Bugatti Veyron's are nice.

Yeah, they bought me a Bugatti. I love the Carsons. And they love me. Because I love Kyle. The world is nice, this way.

I heard my phone ring, the tune of my favorite song blaring out of the tiny speakers. Kyle, calling again. Ah, I loved him.

"Hey baby," I whispered sweetly, flopping down on the couch in the living room.

"Hey, Katy." His gorgeous voice echoed out the other end. But something was different. His voice, it wasn't as sweet as it had been a few minutes ago.

"What's wrong?"

"Oh, nothing. I'm just missing you already," he answered, laughing. I smiled to myself and twisted a piece of hair around my long, slender finger.

"So am I, babe, so am I. But hey, I'll see you tomorrow! One week of high school left," I laughed.

I imagined him smiling, his perfect teeth white as stars. I sighed and leaned back against the arm of the couch.

"One week, and then we're off to college."

College. The thought quieted my happy dreaming.

"I don't wanna leave you, Kyle," I whispered, already beginning to tear up. Kyle sighed.

"I'm coming back over, okay?" I nodded to myself and sighed.

"Thank you, Kyle."

He obviously hadn't gone very far yet, because within about two minutes he was back at my front door. He opened it for himself, and then came to sit by me on the couch. I snuggled into his embrace, starting to cry again. "Kyle, I don't want to go to college. What if I never see you again?"

Kyle put a finger to my lips, stroking my hair with his other hand. "Don't even start that. You know I'll come back for you. I've told you that before! I love you, and I'll always find my way back to you. You understand?" I nodded and blinked away another tear, hugging Kyle.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Katy. And I always will." He kissed the top of my head gently, and flicked the television on. I sighed with mock disgust as he stopped on Deal or No Deal.

"Please, Kyle. Deal or No Deal? Howie Mandel?" I laughed softly, grabbing the remote from his cool hand and turning it to MTV. Some music video was playing, but neither one of us paid much attention to it.

"Do you wanna come over to my place?" Kyle asked, looking down into my eyes. I shrugged.

"Sure. We can take my car, or we can walk if you want to."

"Let's walk," he replied, and I slid off his lap to stand up. He stood up after me, and put his arm around my waist. I grinned and leaned into his shoulder, opening the door. We walked outside into the cold night, and I dashed back inside.

"I'm gonna grab a jacket!" I laughed, slipping up to my room. Kyle grinned and ran after me, pushing past me gently and beating me there.

"Take mine," he smiled, wrapping me in his black Volcom Stone hoodie.

"Thanks," I smiled, grabbing his hand in mine. We raced down the stairs and out the door into the cold, huddling into each other as we trudged through the Seattle streets. I smiled as we reached his house, six blocks down from mine. He pulled the necklace off of his neck that held the key, and stuck it in the door. His mother was standing in the kitchen, churning up some kind of batter.

"Katy, Kyle!" she said as she wiped her hands off on a dishrag stuffed in her apron. She shuffled over and gave me a huge hug and pecked Kyle on the cheek.

"Mom," he growled, blushing. I giggled and kissed him in the same spot.

"You don't mind when I do it, be nice to your mother."

Kyle grumbled, his eyes growing sad, and led me up to his room. "I need to talk to you."
