“The Wimpy Ones”

Sierra Connors had to laugh to herself. The two agents Alberdine had sent to escort her, looked like a couple of wimps. Short and stick skinny, they looked more like geeks than security agents. She had them take her back to the Remington mansion. When they arrived, the party was still in full mode.

My God, Sierra thought, does anyone even know that the host is dead? I guess not. As long as the booze, drugs, and money flowed and the music played, all was right in their rich, pathetic world.

Sierra had the Wimps pull around back.

"Wait here," she told them, "the document is in the mansion."

Wimpy One didn't like her plan.

"We'll go with you," he squeekily said, as both he and Wimpy Two got out of the car.

"No!" Sierra insisted, "Stay here! I'll be right back. I promise."

Wimpy One started to object but Sierra quickly interrupted.

"Listen Stickoid, don't make me go Emma Peel all over your asses, okay?" she threatened.

The Wimpy Ones backed off and reluctantly got back into the car, as Sierra headed around the mansion and through the back yard to the rear exit in an effort to hastily escape. She was almost at the exit when a familiar voice from behind startled her.

"Going somewhere, Ms. Connors?"

Sierra turned to see it was Tall. Beside him was Small, her two Government escorts.

"Where the hell have you two been?" she angrily asked, "I thought you were here to protect me? Since the last time I saw you two studs, I've been shot at three times, kidnapped twice, drugged once, and I broke a nail!"

"Yes, all very interesting," Tall impatiently replied, "now, do you have the document?"

Sierra modestly smiled, "Do you have a document that states I'm pardoned for the incident at Fort Knox?"

Small demurely smiled back, "Why of course, Ms. Connors. We have it right here."

"Then show me!" Sierra commanded.

So Tall reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a paper and handed it over. Sierra snatched it and read it over. It looked all governmental and official, with colorful seals. It pardoned her for any misunderstandings and/or incidents that occurred in or around the Fort Knox area."

"We were going to give it to you as soon as you turned over the document," Small explained.

"Yeah, sure you were," Sierra cynically replied, as she reached up under her dress into the Velcro pouch strapped around her thigh, took out a paper, then handed it over to Tall and Small. Tall gave it a cursory glance. .

"Thank you, Ms. Connors,” Tall commented, “You've done your country a great service tonight. Could we give you a lift somewhere?"

"No thanks, Mulder," Sierra replied, "you and Skinner can go it alone from here on out. I'll find another way home, but I do have one question.”

“Yes?” Tall inquired.

“Who killed Remington?"

Small shrilly smiled, "Oh, we did! That was why we weren't there when you ran back into the hall. Thomas Remington was too easily bought out by the highest bidder. He had other documents we were also interested in. We couldn't let any of them fall into the wrong hands."

Sierra was somewhat taken aback, "But you tried to kill me as well!"

Tall frowned, "Yes. Sorry about that. We couldn't leave any witnesses. We didn't expect you to so quickly move out of the kill zone. Oh well, we both ended up with what we wanted. No hard feelings, okay?"

"But I'm still a witness," Sierra wearily said, "What's to keep you from killing me right now or killing me later?"

Small shrugged, "Nothing at all, but now our orders are to the retrieve the document then leave. However, we can't promise that someone else may not try to kill you one day."

Sierra rolled her eyes in disgust, "So the deal is, I've got a pardon but I'll have to keep looking over my shoulder, huh?"

Tall nodded, "A little paranoia is good for the soul. Goodbye, Ms. Connors."

Then Tall and Small simply walked away disappearing into the party crowd. Suddenly, Sierra spotted Wimpy One and Wimpy Two quickly approaching.

She immediately doubled back to the front of the mansion, in an attempt to throw off the Wimp boys. She then heard the distinctive WHOOSH sounds of tranquilizer darts fly past her head.

I should of kicked their wimpy asses when I had the chance, Sierra now realized, just a little too late.

Great chapter! Now that they have the document, do you really think the government will leave Sierra alone? I kind of figured she'd slip back into the party and help herself to some more of Remington's valuables in that safe. I can't wait to read more!

Yet another highly polished chapter with plenty of action and laughs! I had to laugh when Sierra mentioned that the party wad still going full throttle when the host was dead. Like she said, as long as the debauchery was still in full swing they wouldn't notice. Crack up! It reminded me of the debauchery on the movie "wolf of wall street". Then the reference to the sexiest secret agent that ever lived! Emma Peel! I love Emma Peel! I have watched all the episodes of "the avengers" with her in them. So old mulder and skinner intended to knock of Sieera huh! Typical government scumbag agents and just when I thought Sierra was in the clear along came the whimps with their tranquilizers to ruin the night. She does a document though and knowing Sierra she will use it wisely. Awesome work as per Evie :) so are you on holiday now? Seen any god big screen movies? I loved "a million ways to die in the west" "malelificen
