The door creaked closed behind her. I laid in bed for about ten minutes before I heard the door creak back open. I tilted my head, listening to the shuffling of feet as they come closer.
"Lily Rose, I'm Dr. Gray, you have some questions for me?" he asked.
"Where's my mom, did she make it out, how long do I have to keep my eyes bandaged?" I interrogated.
"I'm sorry but she didn't make it." He apologized, "and as for the bandages, they are only temporary to see if you'll be permanently blind if we take them off."
"When did you plan on taking them off, why will I be permanently blind?"
"Since it has been a couple of weeks I was thinking of taking them off today since you are now finally awake, and to answer your last question; when the car exploded pieces of metal and glass cut into your eyes, we were able to pull all of it out, but you have a big chance of being permanently blind."
"Can we just hurry up and take the bandages off and what do you mean a couple of weeks?"
"You have been in and out of sleep for a while now."
I jumped as I felt someone touch my head.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Mr. Gray apologized.
"It's okay, I'm just not used to being deprived of my sight."
He started to unwrap the guaze type bandage from my eyes. I waited patiently for him to finish. A minute or so later I felt him stop, but everything is still dark. I know I'm blinking; I can feel myself blink. I felt tears spring to my eyes, knowing that I will never be able to see again. I could feel Dr. Gray looking at me.
"You are going to be permanently blind, but I can set up some appointments; so you can adapt to being blind if you would like me to?"
I nod my head, wanting to be alone for a while. I think he got the hint because, he patted my shoulder and started walking to the door.
"Wait, can I ask you one more thing before you go?" I questioned.
"Of course, I'm here to help in anyway that I can." He replied.
"What do I look like?"
"Your blonde hair is up in a bun, the nurses you had loved doing your hair up into the bun you had when you came into the hospital after the explosion, your hazel eyes are now white, but you still look beautiful either way."
"Thank you and is my father here?"
"He's in the waiting room, he's been worried about you, I'll send him in."
"Thank you again for your help."
"It's what I do." He told me, opening the door.
