Chapter 2: An Unexpected Help
(Hi again! Hope you all will enjoy reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. It’s a little longer than the first! I have not build Jane’s character yet but there’ll definitely be MORE to her in the upcoming chapters! ^.^)
‘OH CRAP! What the hell is he is doing here?!!’
I absolutely DETEST this guy! NO! Detest is not the right word. I HATE HIM! Ever since he entered the modelling industry, ALL my assignments are SNATCHED AWAY by him! Even SKII dropped me with the LOUSY EXCUSE that his skin is better than mine. Can you believe this??? What a joke!
‘Oh GOD! Kiki! You never told me he’s so HOT in person!’ Jane’s ‘HUNK ALERT!’ is flashing in her eyes! She is totally BLINDED by his good looks. Where’s the loyalty???
‘Waaahhh… he’s sooooo hot!!!’ I mimic Jane’s enthusiasm.
My sarcasm finally hit my best friend as she painfully tear her attention away from Troy’s broad muscular shoulders, amazingly long toned legs, chiselled jawbone, tantalizing eyes and flawless tanned skin that can only be seen in fairy tales.
‘Oops! I forgot you hate him. Oh Kiki… how could you hate such a gorgeous face…’ Jane pleads with her puppy dog’s eyes. She just looks so cute whenever she does that.
My heart softens. ‘Don’t forget that’s the gorgeous face that SKII chose over mine. Thank god he won’t look good in a bra else Triumph will be out of my league…’ I am interrupted by my ringing mobile.
As I answer, Jane signals her intention to go to the assembly hall first. I nod to her.
‘Kiki! How many times do I have to tell you to answer your phone quickly?!’ bellowed my manager’s voice.
‘And how many times must I tell you to come STRAIGHT to the point!!!’ Patience has never been my virtue.
‘Need to remind you of your photo shoot this SATURDAY AFTERNOON! It’s an outdoor take at Sentosa…’ Blah blah blah… my mobile is an inch away from my ear. Bringing it near to my ears again, I heard more blah blah…
‘Ok! Thanks Eddie. Remind me again on Friday. Bye!’ I cut him off as I need to go to the washroom – fast! I rush down the corridor but stop in my tracks at the mention of Jane’s name. A group of guys are talking about her in a classroom.
‘Hey Josh, have you seen that cute babe yet?’ A playful-looking guy turns to the most handsome-looking one in the lot.
‘Jane right? You should know I am the fastest in hunting.’ An impish glint enters Josh eyes. Hunting? Who does he thinks he is? This JERK has NO RIGHT to talk as if Jane is HIS PREY!
‘I don’t think it’ll be so easy for you this time.’ Another guy quips.
‘You mean that fat bitch next to her? What’s her name? FiFi? I don’t understand why all cute chicks love hanging around fat asses!’ A roar of laughter breaks out at Josh’s response.
I. AM. SO. FREAKING. PISSED!!! What AUDACITY! FAT is NEVER a word in my dictionary! My blood is BOILING with rage, fury, vehemence, ferocity and SO MUCH MORE that I can feel my pee finding its way back to my kidneys from my bladder! I direct my wrath into my foot as I kick open the classroom door.
‘SAY THAT AGAIN IN MY FACE YOU COWARD!’ I scream at Josh. All eyes turn onto me.
After regaining his composure, Josh’s look of shock transforms into a smirk.
‘What do you want me to say? Miss. FAT. FiFi.’ Josh poses his challenge.
ARGHH!!! I am KILLING this guy!
‘If you do not intend to apologize to this lady, I shall do your parents a favour by teaching you what defines a gentleman. I promise it will be an unforgettable lesson!’ A strong and deep voice boom from behind me.
I spin around and come FACE-TO-FACE with the one person I LEAST want to see – Troy.
