After Hades finally stopped screwing Persephone he took me by my cloak and pulled me out of his room. He drug me all the way out to the River Styx and held me above the water. "I hope this is a lesson to you. Never, ever enter my private chambers again." He tore my cloak off and threw me into the River. "Drown, slave!" He stormed off.

I struggled in the water as it started to drag me down. I had to get out of here or I'd die. Although... That may not be a bad thing. I pushed that thought away and struggled to get to the side and pull myself out of the water. I lay on the side of the River by my boat and choked up water. This wouldn't be the first time Hades did this to me. I'd battled that River more timesthan I cared to admit.

After slowly catching my breath I got to my feet and put my cloak back on my soaking body. Now it was back to work. As usual. I put my hood back up and rowed back up to the top layer of hell. the gate man stood there with his arms crossed.

"What took you so long? I have souls lining up now." He asked.

"Nothing. Just give me the obols and I'll be on my way with them."

The gate man didn't seem to buy it becauese he came over and knocked my hood off my head. "Why are you wet?"

"Hades threw me in the River again." I put my hood back up. "Come on. Obol."

"Charon you have to stop playing his pet." he flipped the coin at me. "Stand up for yourself."

"Easier said than done."

A young spirit, she couldn't be older than twentie, came over and got in my boat. She laid down and closed her dead blue eyes. Her white hair fell around her shoulders and onto the side of theboat. She was... beautiful.

I cleared my throat and looked away from her. "What level?"

"Second. And don't dottle Char."

I started rowing, trying to keep my eyes off the beautiful spirit before me. It was almost impossible for me though. She was absolutely perfect in every way. Even though she was dead, she was gorgeous. What was the matter with me? I had no emotion of love. I couldn't feel. Her eyes fluttered open and my dead heart started to pound.

Stop, stop, just fucking stop... I told myself.

"I've heard stories about you. You're Charon. I didn't think you were real." She whispered to me.

"O-of course I'm real." I choked. "How else are souls suppose to get across the River Styx?"

"I really don't understand why it's so dnagerous."

"If you even touch it you die." That wasn't exactly a true statement. I was still here.

She reacher her hand down and dipped it into the water. "I'm already dead."

I sighed and continued rowing. When we reached the second layer of hell I stopped the boat and waited for her to exit. She didn't. "You know you need to get off now, right?"

"I don't want to be dead."

I gaped at the unexpected words. "Well, I guess no one does, but we have no choice."

"I don't want to be dead. I don't want to be down here. I just... I just...I just don't know."

I couldn't stand her being like this. I barely knew her and I wanted to make her feel better. Which meant I was about to do something that really could get me killed. "Okay, I need you to stay low and quiet."

"Because. Just do it."

She sunk down into the boat and stayed quiet as I rowed us down to the lowest layer of hell, where my chamber was kept. I stopped the boat and got out, looking around to makesure Hades wasn't coming. "All right. You can come up now."

She pushed herself out of the boat and walked over to me, her ghostly form making it seem like she was floating. "What are we doing?"

"I don't want you to be sad but you have to keep a low profile. Souls aren't allowed down here."

"You don't want me to be sad?"

"Yes. I'll explain later right now I have to kep you to a safe place." I led her to my room, keeping a look-out for Hades or Persephone. Neither came andI got her to my room without being spotted. "You should be fine in here. Hades doesn't come in unless I'm in here and he needs a punching bag. I'll be back later. Just stay quiet and don't leave this room."

I walked out and closed the doors, hoping Hades wouldn't decide to ransack my room today.

. . .

Once things started slowing down and I was down to only a couple souls every hour, I headed back down to my room to check on my capture. I opened the doors, went in and quietly closed them behind me. it was dark as night and I couldn't see a thing. "Hey, are you here?"

A wave of cool air brushed through my room and all the lanterns turned on. I blinked a couple times and saw there she stood in front of me. "Kitrina."

"My name is Kitrina."

"Oh. Right. Pleasure to make your aquantence."

"So will you explain why you did this now?"

She nodded.

"I have no answer."
