Zack slept in his own bed that night, but awoke to find Al standing at the side of his bed. “Hey! get up! We have to go in a few minutes.” “Ugh... Fine. Im getting up.” Al walked out, closing the door behind him. After Zack got dressed and went to the dining room for breakfast, he saw everyone was back. “Hey Al. Crea. Serene.” Crea waved, but Serene did not even look up. “So how did your meeting with Mr. X go?” Al looked at Serene and Crea for a moment. “Uh... Well... Mr. X pulled some kind of table from the wall and asked Serene to lay down on it.” Zack sat down. “Oh?” “Yeah. That didnt go very well. When he tried to put her on it, she hit him in the back of the head and knocked him out.” Crea nodded. “Yup. Then she just walked away. I checked on him and he seemed okay. Just unconcious. He gave me a lolipop.” Zack scratched his head. He never remembered the teachers having candy intheir desks. “Did you eat it?” Crea shook her head. “Nope. After he asked Serene to lay on the be for examination, I threw it away. I figured he might have done something to it so I would go to sleep or something.” Al sighed. “She’s to smart for her own good. We were almost able to examine them.” Zack, Crea, Claudia and Serene glanced up at him. “Uh... Well... Not like I wanted to. No way! I could never do that to you guys. Serene started eating again, but the others still watched him. Claudia sighed. “You really should be more careful Al. You might get Serene on your bad side. By the way. have you even bothered to thank her for saving you yesterday?” Al’s eyes widened and he jumped from his seat to next to Serenes onto his knees. He took hold of her left hand. “I cant beleive I forgot. Thank you so much Serene. You really did save me back there!” After speaking, he started looking up and down her arm, but she pulled it away. Claudia smacked her forehead. “You could at least be more subtle if your going to look for markings.”
As the group went to the schools entrance and Crea went to hers, they found Jackal standing in front of the doorway. Everybody was going right by him like he was a normal person. The four stopped in front of him, but Serene was directly in front. Jackal suddenly fell to his knees and put his hands on Serene’s shoes. “I is sorry! I will leave you alone, I swears it!” Everyone who saw this seemed rather surprised. “I will do whatever you say. Please forgives me!” Claudia whispered to Zack. “I thought he had a cuncosion? Should he be up and about already?” Zack shrugged. “He has a pretty hard head. I bet he’s recovered almost completely already.” Serene crossed her arms. “Fine. Leave me alone, and pester others no longer for your own ammusement.” Jackal sprang up, bowing. “Yes ma’am!” Then he ran off to who knows where inside the school. Zack patted Serene on the back. “Seems like you gave the whole school a reason to fear you Serene.” Without saying anything, she just walked inside to her first destination for the day. Mr. X’s room. Al took a few steps forward. “I know we dont really have a choice, but do you think it’s alright to let her see Mr. X again?” Zack shrugged. “He’s not one to hold a grudge or even get angry. Things will be fine.”
“Ho! Welcome back to school my dear students!” Mr. X had a cast around his head and a neck brace along with a cone around his neck that one would most likely see on a dog. But he still wore his large sunglasses. “You all may be wondering what happened to me, but have no fear! I am perfectly fine!” Zack whispered to Al. “Are you sure all she did was hit him lightly enough to knock him out?” Al shrugged. “I thought so, but maybe not.” They looked back at Serene for a moment, but she was sitting like she usually does. As they looked back, they saw Mr. X wearing nothing on his head but his shades anymore. “What the...?” “See? I’m fine! Never fear students, for I shall not go away anytime soon.” He sat down at his desk and put his head on his hands, his elbows on the desk. The bell suddenly rang. “Well my dear students! Have a lovely day! If you see any government people, dont tell them I’m here! But Serene, I would like to talk to you for a moment.” As everyone left and the door closed, Zack tried to listen in, but could not hear anything. Instead, he watched through the window. All they did was talk for a few moments. Mr. X did not try anything this time. In fact, he seemed rather serious this time.
As Serene walked out, Zack tapped her on the shoulder. “Hey Serene. What did he tell you? Did he threaten to expell you or something?” She shook her head. “He says the tests to determine the classes have just come in.” Zack blinked a few times. “And?” “He said the classes here are not advanced enough for me.” Al and Claudia came around and Claudia spoke first. “Whats going on? Did Mr. X try something again?” Zack was speechless, so she tuned to Serene. “Um...” “The tests show that these classes are not up to my level. I have been given the choice to leave the school and go right to college.” “Claudia clapped her hands once. “Really? Thats great! Are you going to go?” Serene shook her head. “Huh? Why not?” Zack looked at Serene hesitantly, but she still spoke. “There is something I must do here.” Claudia tilted her head slightly. “Huh? What do you mean? Dont you think you would be better off finishing college as soon as you could?” Serene said nothing and walked off after a few moments. “Whats with her? You of all people should know Zack.” He shook his head. “I dont know a whole lot about her. I didnt even know she existed until Crea came and introduced us.” Al thought for a moment. “Hmm... When was that?” Zack shrugged. “Uh... A little after that huge accident. Why?” “No reason. Just wondering. We should get to class.”
As school came to a close, Al stopped the rest of the group. “Im going to go see Mr. X. I’ll be out in a minute or two.” Zack nodded. “Alright. See you then. We’ll wait in the limo.” As they left, Al went to Mr. X’s room to find him looking through some papers. “Um... Mr. X? Got a minute? It has to do with Serene and Crea.” This caused the teacher to jump right up. “Yes? You have some new info for me? What is it?” Al scratched the back of his head. “Well, I asked Zack about them a bit, and he sais that they came to live with him shortly after the massive accident a while back.” “So you think they could have been a part of it?” “Well, that was my first guess. What do you think?” Mr. X sat back down. “It’s possible. Assuming he was telling the truth, I suppose the time would fit. Maybe those two just escaped and were out of control then? Have you heard about the recent discoveries near that place?” “No. I dont listen to the news. I figured anything going to the public would be fixed, so I dont bother.” Mr. X nodded. “Wise, but not everything is fixed. At that intersection, there have been new findings. Craters and fissures, among other things have been found there. The media is saying they were caused by some kind of meteorites, but there would have been more to it if it was. I was going to go and investigate later tonight. Want to come? You seem to be trustworthy.” “I thought this was more of a ‘trust no one’ thing?” Mr. X laughed. “Well, thats true. But I need at least one apprentice.”
That night, Al was waiting at the edge of his property, just outside the woods. He told the others he was going on a top secret mission to try and be less suspicious, and he left just after dinner had finished. Soon enough, he saw a pair of headlights coming towards him. He recognized the customized bug right away. Once it pulled out in front of Al and stopped, he opened the door to get in. Mr. X was in the driver seat all hunched up, making Al wonder why he even chose this vehicle in the first place. “Welcome sir Al. Shall we go?” Al sat down in the small seat and closed the door. He heard multiple locks shut and the car started going forward to their destination. Al heard a few things shift around in the back and he turned around to look. There were multiple devices ranging from recorders, radios and various wireless machines. “What are these for?” “In our line of work, we need this kind of equippement for everything.” Al reached around and found what looked like some sort of white rifle with blue lining. “Whats this?” Mr. X glanced back, then to the road again. “Oh, thats my top secret weapon. I dont mind if you see it. Its meant to send a powerful blast in case a normal bullet doesnt do anything.” “Uh... Okay.” He put it back before sitting back down normally.
When they finally made it to the intersection, Mr. X parked his small car about fifty yards away, figuring it would be best to keep it at at least a bit of a distance so he would not run over any evidence they might find. “So, what exactly are we looking for?” Al took hold of a flashlight and started looking around. The place was currently empty besides them. “Anything suspicious or odd that we might be able to use in our research.” “Okay. Anything specific though?” Mr. X took his own flashlight, although it was more of a spotlight, and started looking around the ground. “Maybe some odd foot prints or anything that might suggest the damage is not in fact made from natural causes. Like, if there was a meteor that hit the ground, we should find some kind of debree, right? Lets look at the craters first.” As they walked over to the closest crater, Al looked down at the deep hole first. “I dont see anything that looks like a peice of rock that souldnt be here already. I’ll go look at the other ones.” “You do that.” Mr. X pulled a small device from his pocket and held it forward. A few beeping noises were heard from it, but even so, Al did not look back. Once he reached the next crater, he got down into it. “It looks like some kind of explosion, but not from a meteor. The angles wrong. Even the debree looks off...” There were numerous rocks and a lot of dirt laying around. He had looked at thousands of pictures that showed meteor crashes, so he knew what they looked like. “Find anything Al?” He heard Mr. X call and stood up. “Nothing that you already wouldnt have expected. This was no meteor. Anything over there?” The small device suddenly started beeping like crazy and Mr. X started running around in circles, cheering. “Yes! I’ve finally found it!” Al got up and ran over. “What is it? What did you find?” He looked at the device and it showed a bunch of numbers and small bars. “Whats that showing? I dont get it.” Mr X. suddenly pressed on Al’s shoulders, forcing him to sit and the teacher sat down as well. “You see, this thing will tell me if something supernatural has dropped some kind of liquid or something here. I have found blood that does not match human or animal!” “Thats cool. What is it exactly though?” Mr. X shrugged, looking at the meters. “I have no idea. But I have a book that may be able to tell us. You see, I have been researching something called ‘Summons.’ They are some kind of fighters that are not of this world. I have discovered this book in an old library and... Um... Bought it to further my research.” “You mean you stole it, dont you?” “That doesnt matter! We may just have what we need to prove they exist!” Al tilted his head slightly. “I have never heard of these ‘summons’ things. I thought we were looking for aliens or something?” Mr. X stood up. “In a way, they are aliens! They arent from Earth, thats for sure. Lets go back to the base! We have to investigate this futher!” He took out a pair of tweezers and plucked a few peices of grass that he got the readings from and put them in a small bag before going to his car along with Al.
After a long while of driving, Mr. X pulled into a parking lot and got out, locking his door behind him. “We have to hurry!” Al got out and ran after him. They went through various halls and doors until Mr.X opened one last one to show a rather ragged old room full of new and old computers and other scientific looking things. Al could barely even recognize what some of them were, if at all, so he had no idea. There were some vials full of random colored liquids as if he was making some kind of potion. “What is this place?” “This is my base. Well, its also my home. This is where I cunduct all of my research. Have a seat over there. I’ll show you around in a few moments.” “Sit down where?” Al looked around, but there was only one space that even looked suitable to sit down in. “You can sit in the corner or in the doorway. Now stop interupting me!” Mr. X was already at a desk, putting the blades of grass in some kind of test tube, then inserted it into a machine that started to do some sort of testing to it. “Well, all we can do now is wait. Here’s that book I told you about. Go ahead and look through it. It should be able to fill you in.” Al caught the book as it was thrown and started looking through the pages. As Mr. X continued to work on his computer, he heard a voice behind him. It was lower than Al’s, but he could not tell who it was. “You know to much. I cannot allow you to live.”
Zack, Claudia, Serene and Crea sat in various places around the living room watching the television. But since Crea chose a more childish program, no one else seemed interested but her. Serene was given first choice, but she did not seem interested in anything, even after Zack showed her almost every kind of channel possible. He figured she just didnt care. Zack and Claudia sat on the couch next to each other and she was leaning her head against his shoulder again. “So Claudia. Any idea on what Mr. X might be doing with Al? What if he tries to do some kind of brain surgery?” “Ah, he’d be better off if he had some of his brain removed anyway. It would be good for him.” She smiled, but was the only one who seemed amused by it. “Im serious Claudia. Teach has never taken a student with him on one of his expeditions before. What if something goes wrong?” Claudia blinked. “Oh. I think Al would be okay though. Mr. X didnt look very tough.” “yeah. I bet your brother could take him pretty easily. I guess I was worrying to much.” He noticed Serene suddenly walking to the door to leave. “Hey Serene. Where are you going all of a sudden?” “Do not follow.” This was all she said before she was out of sight. Zack stood up. “Hey! Serene! Wait up!” He started going to the door, but stopped, hearing Claudia. “Zack? Dont you think you should do what she says? It might be some personal buisness.” Sighing, Zack turned around. “Yeah, I suppose.” Looking out the door where Serene left, he thought to himself. “What are you doing Serene? She must have heard or saw something.” “Hey Crea? Want to go for a walk? Lets go get some fresh air. You shouldnt stare at that screen for very long.” Crea looked over at him. “but this is just getting interesting.” “Oh, come on. They’ll replay it some other time.” Claudia stood up. “You arent going after Serene, are you?” Zack shook his head. “No, of course not! I just want to talk to Crea alone for a minute.” “Oh, alright. Go ahead Crea. I can tell you what happens.” Crea got up as Claudia sat down and walked over to Zack. “Okay. Thanks.”
As Zack went out the front door and closed it behind Crea, he saw Serene was already gone. “Crea. We really need to keep better track of Serene. “I know she’s powerful and all, but what if something happens?” Crea looked over at the path through the woods. “Your curious to, huh? I would really like to know as well about what she keep going off to do. Lets go!” “Wait! We dont know where she is, and wont Claudia get suspicious if were gone for to long, or if she hears the limo pull out?” Crea placed a hand under her chin. “Hm... I suppose your right.” She held out her hand and he saw her tail and ears appear. “Take my hand. I can try to follow her.” Zack looked at her curiously as he put her hand in hers. “What do you mean? I know your strong to, but you cant pull me the whole way.” “I wasnt going to.” As she took hold of his hand, she suddenly pulled on him, making him fall over. But she caught him and held him in both arms. “Wh... What are you doing Crea?” He felt kind of stupid being carried by a child. “We can catch up to her a lot faster this way. Just suck down your gut so I can see better!” He put his arm over his stomach and Crea smiled. “Much better. Lets go!” She started dashing down the stairs at a speed Zack never thought was humanly possible. Within two seconds, she was down the huge amount of stairs and was out of the forest in five. Zack had to squint to be able to see, and he managed to see Crea sniffing the air and change her direction. “You can track her?” Crea nodded. “Yup. I would know her scent anywhere. Normally, I cant track it because it goes away a lot quicker than most others, but this is fresh.” “Okay. How far ahead is she?” Crea continued running. “I have no idea. She could be miles away already.” She stopped in front of the city, noticing the scent led here. Crea put him down. “You’ll have to walk from here. If someone saw me carrying you...” Zack nodded. “Lead the way.” Crea started running again, but at a more normal child pace. Zack had no problem following. Crea’s ears and tail disappeared.
Crea finally came to a stop at a building entrance and Zack was almost out of breath. “She’s in here.” Zack put his hands on his knees, looking at the building while breathing hard. “Hey. That’s Mr. X’s car over there. Why would Serene come here? You dont think she came to finish him off, do you?” Crea’s eyes widened. “I sure hope not! I dont like him, but I dont think he deserves to be killed.” Zack opened the door and Crea led the way through a few halls and doors. She opened Mr. X’s room door and they saw Al laying on the floor. Zack got down on his knees and picked Al up by his shoulders. “Hey! Al! Can you hear me?” Crea looked down at him. “He’s unconcious. What happened here? Oh!” Looking around, she saw Mr. X standing next to another male, but with a demon on the floor in front of them. Zack looked up at his teacher. “Hey Mr. X! I’m sorry to barge in. What happened? And who is that?” The man next to Mr. X was almost the same body shape and size, but a bit bigger. Especially around the gut. Crea jumped over Zack and he saw her tail and ears appear. “Crea? Whats wrong?” “This man next to your teacher... He’s a summon.” Zack looked at Mr. X and the teacher started laughing. “So! You finally found out my secret, hm? I was hopeing to keep this under wraps and research you summons some more. But it seems my time for another battle has come up. How unfortunate. The weapon will have to wait I suppose.” Zack saw that his teachers expression seemed much more ‘evil’ as some would call it, as if he was possessed. “Where is Serene?” “Oh, you mean the other summon? Is she yours? Thats to bad. She went out this way to fight my other summon.” Around a corner, Zack had to move to see it, was a huge hole in the wall. His first guess was that Serene had hit it or something to go through it. Mr. X started laughing again. “Oh glorious day! I never thought one of my own students, even a fake one, would be a summon such as her! And the actual Serene! I am honored to have her as a victim. Thank you for bringing her to me Zack. Its to bad I have to kill you. Otherwise, I would let you rule the world with me.” Mr. X and the other man suddenly ran out the large hole. They moved much quicker than Zack first thought they could. Crea looked back at him. “We have to go after them Zack! I know he’s your teacher, but he is still a chosen!” She grabbed his hand and pulled him through the hole, leaving Al where he was on the floor.
Crea dragged Zack through alleys and streets, following Mr. X’s scent. After a few minutes of being outside of the city limits, rea picked Zack up again and began running faster, just as she had done before. In the distance, Zack could make out small flashes of light in the darkness on the ground, but there was not enough light to make out exactly what was going on yet. Whatever was making the flashes was moving away, and quickly. “They must be trying to get away from the city to. At least they are willing to do that for now.” Crea continued to run as fast as she could. Zack was finall able to make out the figures of his teacher, his summon, and Serene in a battle. Mr. X had some sort of ray gun that he continually shot at Serene, and his summon was fighting her hand to hand. The summons body was like rubber and bent around whenever Serene tried to attack. Once they were close enough, Zack saw Serene face them and she shouted. “Beware the ground!” He tried getting Crea to stop, and she did, but so suddenly that he went flying through the air, past the battle. After getting up, he looked over at Crea. “You didnt have to throw me Crea!” Looking closer, he saw Crea laying on the ground, trying to stand up. “What the... Crea? Whats wrong?” He started running over, but Serene kicked him on the chest when she had a spare moment, then went back to fighting the summon. “Dont get close.” Zak held his chest in pain, then looked back at Crea who was now standing, but she had some kind of liquid covering her. her bow and arrow appeared in her hand, and she shot the arrow into the sky, making it light as day. Zack was now able to see some kind of thick, dark yellow colored substance covering Creas front. Mr. X and his summon continued to fight Serene, so Zack tried approaching Crea again. This time, he went a bit further from the fight.
When Zack reached Crea, he put his hands under her arms to help her stand. He felt the ground beneath him was sticky, wet and a bit discolored, but he did not pay attention to that. “Crea! Are you okay? What is this stuff?” Crea’s eyes widened, as if realizing something. “Zack! Get away!” “What?” He tried backing away, but his feet were stuck like glue to the ground. He fell backwards, and he could no longer move once his back made contact with the ground. “What is this?” “I think its a summon. Zack, try to get away!” Zack tried moving, but nothing was working. It was like his skin was attached to the ground itself. Crea tried moving, but she could not move either. “Serene! Help us!” Crea cried. Zack managed to move his eyes to see Serene looking over at them, but the speed of the summon was almost matching her, and the blasts from the gun did not help her get closer at all. Zack looked back at Crea, and the thick liquid started to build up behind her. “What the heck is that! A blob?” Crea looked behind her. “Oh no...” She pulled out another arrow and shot it at the rising pile of, what Zack though was, slime. The arrows went straight through it as though nothing was there at all. The slime rose up to at lleast thirty feet, and it started taking a shape. Once it was done, after a few moments, the jelly like substance became like skin, but Crea and Zack were still stuck to the ground since the amount around them had not changed. The body before them was still a rather blobbish figure, but it had two thick legs. Above the legs was something one would most likely say resembled an overweight humans gut and it hung down a bit. Its overall body was somewhat egg shaped, and instead of a face, all it had was a mouth. But it was closed, so Zack could not see what was inside. The arm was thick, but the one it had was only on its left side. Its skin looked like a persons skin, but its color was more dark yellow and it looked like it was covered in water. But Zack assumed that was only the unhardened slime dripping off.
Zack’s eyes widened as the strange beast let out an odd roar. “Crea, what the heck is that thing?” He heard Mr. X’s voice instead. “That is my second summon, Hito. The sommun of ‘gluttony.’ Im not crazy about his type, but its not like I had a choice.” Zack felt his body begin to get lifted from the ground. The slime he was on was now attached to the monster. “You see, when I first found I was a chosen, I started studying these so called ‘summons’ from this book right here.” He held up a thick book about the size of a large dictionary, but it looked like it was hundreds upon hundreds of years old. “I read what their strengths and weaknesses were, and found my Hito here can sap the strength of other summons without even harming them. Oh course, they die soon after he drains their energy. You see, he is called the summon of gluttony for a reason.” Zack and Crea were now a few feet above the blob like monsters head and the mouth began to open wide. It spread much further than it looked like it should, the body itself stretching out slightly. It looked like it could fit a truck in its mouth, if not more. “You two will be his first meal in quite a while. Dont disappoint him now, or you’ll die much quicker.” He shot his gun at Serene again. Zack felt his body slipping downward as it had come loose, but the slime made it imppossible for him to get away. Looking down, he saw Mr. X’s other sommun down had its arms wrapped completely around Serene. Not only once, but at least five times with each limb. Suddenly, Zack and Crea let out a scream as they were dropped into Hito’s mouth, but they were muffled as the gaping maw closed.
Serene watched while struggling as the two were dropped in. “You...” She closed her eye tightly, and the summon suddenly released her. it looked own at itself, and its body was covered with heavy burn marks. Whatever touched her right arm had begun to actually burn away on him. Serene ran toward Hito, but Mr. X shot at her again. Ducking, she dodged the shot, but her feet suddenly stuck to the ground, stopping her. Mr. X started laughing again. “How futile of you Serene! I thought of all summons, you would have been the one smart enough to not do such a thing.” Serene growled lightly, and she picked up her foot and started to walk. Slowly, but she did. “It doesnt matter Serene. You cant save them!” The blod’s mouth suddenly came down and engulfed Serene like a snake strikes its prey, and there was nothing left when it brought its ‘head’ back up. Mr. X continued laughing. “Well, that was much easier than I expected! As long as we have Hito, we can never lose!” Hito’s body suddenly started lurching around, and Zack and Crea came flying out of hit mouth. They rolled on the blobs body before hitting the ground, so they did not take the full landing. “What the...? What just happened?” Mr. X looked at Hito, but it was silent. It could talk anyway. Zack and Crea slowly stood up and started backing away from Hito. “Serene?” Zack and Crea were stopped as they were suddenly wrapped up in the other summons limbs, just as Serene was previously. They all watched Hito, but after a few moments, he only let out a burp that shook the ground slightly. Mr. X jumped up. “Yes! She is gone! Gone for good! Well done Hito! Drain her power! With it, you will never be able to be defeated!” Darkness suddenly formed around the blobs gut and came up to its head. It was the exact same thing that happened like when Crea or Serene defeated another summon. Hito must have been taking in her power. Zack and Crea tried to get away, but were not strong enough. “No! Serene!” Crea had tears streaming down her face. “Sereeeene!” The blod was silent, and darkness continued to be absorbed by it. Mr. X walked to Zack. “Well, thats to bad huh? I guess you werent able to participate in these battles for very long. Well, I will end this quickly. So long Zack!” He held his gun at Zack’s head.
The ground suddenly shook a bit, and Mr. X looked back at Hito. “Whats wrong Hito? Your meal not agreeing with you? Well, that should pass shortly.” Its body suddenly started to get smaller and go back to a liquid state, pooling on the ground. “Hito? Hito! Whats wrong!” Mr. X ran over to the diminishing pile of dark yellow slime. He dropped his gun and started picking up what he could of the slime, but it just fell through his fingers. “How did this happen? Nobasu! Whats going on?” He looked at his other summon. Zack figured Nobasu was its name. As Mr. X turned back around, he saw a small pile still standing. But as the slime went to the ground, he soon saw it was Serene standing, covered in the dark slime. “How are you alive? The acids should have killed you by now!” Serene was suddenly standing in front of him, but her stance made it look like she had not even taken a step. Mr. X fell backwards, but before he could get away, Serene brought her hand down straight onto his chest, lifting him up by his shirt. Well, as much as her arm would let her. Nobasu released Zack and Crea, then ran over to assist its master. Serene jumped towards the summon, still holding Mr. X, then threw him on top of his own summon, causing them to collide and fall to the ground. Nobasu was below its master, as if trying to protect him from the fall, but Serene was suddenly standing above them again. Bringing her left hand down again, this time, it went straight through Mr. X’s chest to the ground, going through Nobasu as well. Zack could tell her hand went through since her shoulder was now just above Mr. X’s chest. Zack’s teacher twitched a couple times, but was soon laying lifeless on the ground in a pool of blood and slime, the crimson liquid still forming a pool around him. Nobasu went to darkness and was absorbed by Serene, and the slime soon enough did the same thing.
Zack stood up and walked over to Serene, the slime now completely off of her. But she did not seem to be undamaged. He noticed both his and Crea’s clothing were burned almost to nothing, and he felt like his exposed skin had started to burn away as well. But he only had slight burns and in small amounts as if he had only gotten a sunburn. But Serene was different. Her clothing was now barely even hanging on her by threads and vaious parts of her skin had begun to burn away slightly. She was practically only wearing a black set of underwear that was still in tact. The bandana across her face was gone, and some of her hair had burned away. The sleeve over her right arm had mostly burned away as well, but he saw she was covering it the same way she had so long ago to make it look like a normal arm. Her body was almost completely covered with massive scars, and Zack saw a large ‘X’ like one, the center of the X just between her breasts as if to fit perfectly. Across her eye where the bandana used to be was another scar that looked like it was made from something that went through her bone and even her eye itself. Her eye was closed and the scar was at a slant from just above her mid forehead down to her cheek bone. As Zack slowly walked around her, he saw multiple other scars going from her sides to her back, soon noticing the largest one that Claudia had spoken about before. There was practically barely any normal skin left that wasnt altered by the scar or the area around it.
Going back around to her front, Zack placed a hand gently on her left shoulder. Her head was lowered and her good eye was closed again. “Serene... Did you really get all of these from battles with other summons?” She was silent and turned around before walking away. “Hey! Serene! Dont go to the city! Someone might see you!” She did not even turn around while she continued walking. Zack looked back at Crea. Her clothing was still mostly in one peice. The only thing tht was really missing was the right shoulder and some of her left pant leg. “Crea? What happened? No way could her sword have done that. I thought she was getting her power drained? It only lasted a couple seconds though.” Crea’s eyes were wide as they had been for a while now. “I... Hito... I think he overloaded.” Zack blinked. “Overloaded? You mean, like, he got to much power and his body couldnt hold it?” Crea nodded, her head shaking a bit. “Is that even possible for a summon?” Crea fell to her knees. “Zack?” He knelt down beside her. “Huh?” “If I remember right, Hito is one of the top legendary summons. He is supposed to have limitless storage for energy.” Zack was silent. “I heard he was supposed to be unbeatable...” She suddenly stood up and ran over to Mr. X’s corpse and picked up the large book. “This cant be...” The blood on the book dripped off and she wiped some more off, and it looked like it went back to normal, like blood was never even on it. Flipping through some of the pages, she found on and walked over to Zack, showing him the page. “See? Read that!” It was in a language he had never even seen. “I cant read that. What kind of language is it?” Crea sat down beside him. “Its like the language of the summons. It says here that Hito ‘devours his opponents and drains their energy for his own use. The victims desintegrate afterwords.’ Zack, we should be dead.” “Serene got to us just in time, didnt she?” Crea nodded and closed the book. “Yeah. We should keep this book. We have to make sure it doesnt get into anyone elses hands. It tells about all of the summons. What their strengths are, appearances, and even weaknesses. We could use this to our advantage.” He nodded, but suddenly looked down, thinking of something. “Crea. Look up yourself.” “Lets get back home first. It could be dangerous to wait around here for long.” “Oh. Yeah, your right. Lets go.”
Serene was already gone, and the sky went back to normal. “Hey Crea. Can no one else see the light from when you do that thing with your arrow?” she shook her head, picking him up. “No. Its a thing only we summons and you chosen can see. otherwise, we would have been caught already.” She started running. “We should go check on Al.” Once they reached the hole in the building they had first gone out of, Al was gone. Crea sniffed the air lightly. “I think Serene got him and brought him to the mansion.” “Okay. Lets go then. Maybe we can catch up to her. I cant beleive she just went out to the city in her underwear though.” Zack’s nose suddenly started bleeding.
