Zack awoke the next morning at exactly nine am to the strong scent of something directly in front of him. Opening his eyes, he saw Crea standing over him, holding a tray full of various breakfast foods. Some pancakes, bacon, sausage, a cup of orange juice... These were only about half of what was on the tray. “Crea. This is way to much. There is no way I can finish this.” She smiled. “Don't worry about that. Eat what you can while its warm. Or cold.” He rubbed his eyes and let out a long yawn. Once finished, he sat up and Crea put the tray on his lap and left the room. To him, it was surprisingly flavorful. But once he had his fill, he saw he had only had about half of what was made. Getting out of bed and getting dressed, he went out of his room, carrying the tray and its leftovers. Crea was only about one foot away from the door, looking up at him and still smiling. “Well? How was it? Did I do good?” He nodded and smiled, then gave her a gentle pat on her head. “It was great Crea. Thank you. But like I said, I was not able to finish it.” “And like I said, don't worry about that.” She took the tray and walked over to Serene who was in the same position she was in the previous night, but she was wearing one of his own red shirts and a pair of his baggy jean pants instead of her normal clothing. The shirt seemed a bit big for her since it was also somewhat baggy, but it still fit. She was not wearing her gloves or the large sleeve over her right arm or even her shoes or socks. But she was still wearing the bandana over the left side of her face. She looked down at the tray Crea had offered, then picked it up with her left hand and began to eat what was left. He could barely keep from staring. Because of her harsh expression, he was not able to see what he considered to be sheer beauty now. She had apparently taken a shower as well, since her hair hung down in various position across her head and over her face. He hoped she would be much kinder in the morning, and maybe even flash him a smile.
Serene looked up at him, her expression still the same as before. “I am borrowing some of your clothing for now. Mine needed to be cleaned. They are in the dryer now.” Zack sighed heavily, but forced a shrug. “Fine with me, but what's with your right arm?” Looking closer, he could faintly see some type of ripple in the air around her arm, almost like it was surrounded by invisible water. Crea pulled on his shirt a bit. “Im not to sure, but I heard she always keeps that covered with that big sleeve ad glove you saw before. Right now, she has a kind of illusion barrier over it to make it appear like a normal arm. I don't know what it looks like without the barrier though.” Serene continued eating, and Zack nodded lightly. “Okay. But what about her face? Why does she wear that?” Crea shrugged. “I don't know. I cant see through it dummy.” Zack sighed. It seemed Serene was not going to say anything about it. “Well, we all have our secrets. Im going to go take a shower and stuff.” Crea nodded. “Okay.”
Once Zack was finished and walked back out into the main living room, he saw it had been tidied up big time. Windows shined, pillows were arranged, things were all in place... Serene was no longer in her spot though. In fact, she was nowhere to be seen. Zack jumped as he heard some noises coming from his room. Going through the door, he noticed Crea pushing on his bed, putting it back into place. Everything was cleaned up as well. His clothes were in the closet, small ‘nicknacks’ were set up on his shelf... Crea wiped her forehead with her arm, sighing. “How's that? I think its more livable now, don't you?” It even smelt better. He nodded. “Yeah, thanks a lot Crea! But were are my sheets?” “In the wash.” He suddenly sounded hesitant. “Oh. And um...” She crossed her arms, giving him an stern, yet puzzled look. “Yes, I found it. And I burned it. you really need to find a better hiding place for those magazines than under your mattress. That's the most obvious place.” There was a small black spot made of ash in the center of his floor. “Don't worry. Ill take the vacuum and get that.” Zack almost fell over from embarrassment. A kid finding something like that. Well, at least she seemed okay with it. Or not? His voice was a bit shaky. “by the way, where is Serene. She's not up against the wall anymore.” Crea smiled. “She went to get that job, remember? The clothes she wore are on the chair right there in case she needs them again.” She pointed to the chair beside his bed. “She got her normal clothes and went out a few minutes after you got into the shower.” Nodding, he sat down on his bare mattress. “Alright. Im just going to rest for now. Thanks for cleaning up. if you need a hand with something, let me know.” Crea laced her fingers in front of her, smiling again. “Yep. No problem.” She walked out of his room and closed the door behind her.
As the door closed, Zack sighed again, then laid down on his bed. The pillows were still there, but they had no covers. Looking to the beareou beside his bed, the picture of his mother was still there. Picking it up, he held it in front of him, looking at it. She was only on the right side of the picture frame with two year old Zack in her lap. The left side of the picture was completely torn out as if his mother wanted him to never see what or who was on the other side. Having only asked once, he remembered her saying “Oh, the picture was ripped one day when I was moving stuff around. When I find the other half, I will give it to you.” After thinking about it, he could figure it out. She had purposely removed that section of the picture. He could tell from her voice and how she acted as she spoke. She was hiding something from him, but he would probably never know what it was now. Putting the picture back on his beareou, Zack just stared at it, but began to doze off.
When he woke up, Zack looked at the alarm clock next to his mothers picture. He had been asleep for about four hours. Getting up, he noticed his sheets, blankets and pillow covers on the foot of his bed, and they were neatly folded. Seemed Crea brought them in. After fixing up his bed, Zack went to the living room and noticed Crea sleeping on the couch. Serene was still gone though. The place was practically spotless. Crea must have worn herself out. Going to his mothers room, he saw that it had been cleaned up as well. Or, at least a bit more than it was previously. Sitting on the chair next to the couch, he looked at the door. What was taking Serene so long? She was probably off doing something by herself again. Sighing, he stood up and walked to his room, then looked at the clothes on his chair. Picking them up, he just stared at them for a few moments. Serene was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. It was unfortunate that she kept almost half of her face covered and that she acted the way she did. His nose suddenly started to bleed a bit. “Ah, son of a...” Putting the clothes down, he grabbed a tissue and held it to his face. Crea was standing in the doorway, smiling at him, giggling lightly. “Yup. Your a pervert.” Zack hesitantly laughed a bit, but the phone suddenly started ringing. Putting twisted bits of tissue into his nostrils, Zack went to the phone and picked up the receiver. “Hello?” Silence. “Is anyone there?” Another few moments of silence passed, but he soon heard a voice. “Intersection. Three hours.” He heard a click, then the dial tone. Putting the receiver down slowly, he seemed a bit freaked out. Crea tugged on his shirt lightly, startling him. “Sorry. Who was that? Do you know why they want you to go to the intersection?” He looked down at her. “You could hear that?” She pointed to where her animal like ears were. “I can hear you blink if I listen closely.” He blinked a few times in surprise. “Yep. I can hear those.” “Alright, I get it. But no, I don't know who it was. It was kind of a creepy voice though. I have a feeling I should go. I will be back later. If I go now, I should make it just in time.” Crea crossed her arms. “Not without me your not. That could be another chosen challenging you. But like you said, we have just enough time to make it. We wont have time to look for Serene.” Zack crossed his arms. “Ae you sure you could handle one?” She grinned. “Don't worry about me. Lets go before something goes wrong.”
After the three hours of walking passed, they finally made it to the intersection were the accident happened. Zack and Crea stopped on the rood near the tracks. It seemed no one still wanted to use the road. “Were are they?” Zack asked, looking around. Crea shrugged. “Like I know.” Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and Crea tackled him, throwing them both out of the way of a wave of fire going across the ground. Zack rolled a bit, but Crea managed to get her footing quickly. “Who's there?” Once the light smoke cleared, Crea's normal features showed themselves. A male voice was suddenly heard. “I am Jack, and I know that you, Zack, are a chosen. I saw you with your two summons before. You managed to defeat my first one, but don't think this one will be as easy.” Zack stood up. “So you are a chosen as well. At least you let us get away from the city. Jack was now in view. he was a rather muscular person, perhaps having served in the military before, and appeared to be in his early thirties or so. To his left was a female with a dragon like tail and claws for feet. She seemed about Serene's size, but packed a bit more muscle. “This is Sif. Unfortunately, we cannot fight you full force since we have lost one already, but it seems you are one short as well. Were is your second summon?” Zack looked around. “I honestly don't know. I haven't seen her for a while.” Jack laughed. “You are such a fool! You need to keep track of your summons boy! It could cost you our life.” Zack looked back and forth between Jack and Sif. He knew there was no way he could handle either of them. Jack was three or four times his size in multiple ways, and Sif was a summon. That was enough to tell him she was out of his league. Jack took a boxer stance, and the sleeves to his black t shirt tore open. “No matter. This is were we beat you. Prepare to die Zack!”
Crea held out both hands, and her massive bow and arrow materialized. “Zack. I know it will be hard, but try to keep Jack occupied. Leave Sif to me for now. One hit from Sif and your dead. maybe even from Jack. Be careful!” Crea suddenly leaped high into the air and launched an arrow. Jack and Sif jumped to the side as the arrow struck the ground, and the arrow suddenly seemed to explode as if made of powerful grenades, leaving a large crater behind. Zack looked around frantically, the dust and dirt not letting him see much. Looking up at Crea, He saw Sif had already gone up as well, and they were in hand to hand combat. Crea was barely able to block the attacks. But something suddenly caught his eye. Jack had leaped at him and threw a punch directly at his face. Ducking to the side, he lowered himself and made a swipe with his leg to try and trip the large man. It struck the mans leg, but he rolled in mid air, landing perfectly. Zack held his leg. It felt like he had just kicked two steel poles. He glanced up at Crea for a moment, and noticed Sif was grinning evilly as she continued to strike at Crea, who was now in a defensive pose with her arms and legs up. Sif spun around quickly an delivered a powerful punch on Crea, knocking her to the ground. But she landed on Jack in full force, knocking him down, and even a bit into the ground. Crea held her head, her bow and arrow having disappeared, then leaped backward, towards Zack. She was covered in various cuts and bruises and panting heavily. Sif landed next to her master and helped him up. “I apologize ssir. I did not ssee you there.” Zack saw a long, thin tongue in the woman's mouth as she spoke, and she seemed to talk a bit like he would think a snake would. “There are some weird summons.” Crea wiped some sweat from her forehead. “There are some odder ones.” Zack nodded. “I believe that.” He looked down at his own summon. “Crea. Are you going to be able to continue?” She looked up at him, smiling lightly. “Hey, I told you to not worry about me. Im stronger than I look.” Jack hit his summons hand away. “Don't be an idiot this time. Kill them quickly.” “Yess ssir!” jack held his head and swayed a bit. It seemed the blow from Crea had dazed him. “Crea! Quickly! get ready to attack him!” Her bow and arrow materialized in her hand and she held it at the ready, aiming at Jack. “Are you sure? What about S...” Zack dashed forward. “Just do it when I tell you to!” He ran at Sif, who made a large swipe at him. Rolling to the side, he planted his hands on the ground and kicked with both legs. Hitting Sif straight on her side, she was pushed through the air. “Crea, now!” Sif was directly in a line between Crea and Jack. She released her arrow.
It flew straight at it targets, but Sif seemed to anticipate this. She turned her body as best she could while flying, but the arrow still hit her, going straight through the lower left side of her chest. The arrow continued, but Jack had also moved just in time to not get hit head on. The arrow struck his left shoulder and had gone completely through. Holding his arm in pain, Jack looked at Sif who was barely able to stand. “You idiot! I told you to kill them quickly!” Sif growled at her master. “Oh sshut up. They jusst ssurprissed me iss all.” “Don't give me that! Just kill them. Now!” Zack crossed his arms. His legs were hurting, but they were okay. “And you tell me to be better with my summons?” Jack cursed under his breath and ran at Zack again. Crea held her bow and arrow ready as Sif suddenly began to transform. “I will end thiss quickly. No more playing around.” Huge dragon like wings sprung from her back and her tail grew spikes for scales. She lifted up into the air, using her wings and began to fly around at an alarming pace. Zack jumped to the side as Jack used his good hand to throw another punch straight downward, hitting the ground were Zack previously stood. While Jack was getting up, Zack threw his own punch at the mans head. It hit, but it was practically the same from when he hit Serene. Except this time, the target seemed to notice the attack. of course, it did not appear to do any damage though since Jack just started throwing more attacks with his good arm.
As Sif continued to fly through the air, Crea watched her closely as best she could. “What are you doing Sif?” Crea whispered to herself. She fired a few arrows, but the dragon girl was to quick. Crea quickly looked at the ground, noticing what was going on. The wind began to pick up fast. “A tornado!” Crea tried jumping out of the way, but getting off her feet put her at the winds mercy. It suddenly picked her up, bringing her extremely high into the sky, and made her drift in one place, as if at the very top of the tornado itself. Having almost no control over her movement, she looked around a bit to find Sif was now directly above her. The tornado suddenly stopped, causing Crea to fall, but Sif came around from the side, delivering a hard punch directly onto Crea. The blow threw her far to the side through the air, and Sif followed, hitting the small girl again but in the opposite direction. This went back and forth as Crea continued to fall down towards the ground, as if she was bouncing back and forth. After being hit exactly nineteen times, Crea was only one foot off the ground, and Sif was now above her again. Spinning her body like a somersault, she performed an ax-kick straight onto Crea’s chest. Aside from the attack, this hit the girl straight into the ground. The force alone caused the ground to seemingly explode, causing a crater to form. Sif used her wings to fly back a bit, then stood normally, looking down at the still body on the ground. “Iss that all little girl? I wass expecting more from a ssummon.” She turned around to find Jack was still trying to attack Zack, but he barely managed to dodge each punch. A few of them knicked his shoulder or side, which caused a large amount of pain, but he just kept trying to dodge.
Suddenly, jack feigned an attack, making Zack go into a position to dodge it, but Jack spun around, making a swipe attack with his hand. Hitting its mark, Jack was sent rolling on the ground a good twenty feet before he finally came to a stop. Holding his ribs, he grit his teeth hard from the pain. He felt like every rib on the side that was hit had shattered to pieces. Jack walked over to his foe with Sif now standing behind him. “Game over Zack. To bad your other summon wasn't here to help you.” Lifting his fist to make the finishing blow, he heard a faint, weak voice a short distance behind him. “Leave him alone.” Turning around, jack saw Crea releasing an arrow. Sif jumped out of the way, but it struck Jack straight into his chest. Instead of going through, it stuck into him. Using her free hand, Crea held it out as if reaching for her arrow, then quickly clenched it into a fist, causing the arrow to explode just as it had done before.
Sif let out a yell as she saw her master die, then charged at Crea. Using her tail, she spun around. The way it was, the tail would have shred Crea to pieces. Just as the first spike hit Crea's arm, Sif’s body suddenly froze in midair and began to disappear into shadows. Crea let out a relieved sigh, and the shadows circled around her, and went into her just as they had done Serene before. Struggling to stand, Crea staggered over to Zack, her bow now gone again. “How was that?” He tried to smile, but it hurt to move. “Good job Crea. But I don't think I will be able to go on. Im sorry.” She knelt down beside him and held her hands over his chest. “Don't worry. I can do this. It might hurt a bit though.” Her hands began to glow white, and Zack felt his body changing. Or at least healing. After a few moments, he was able to move normally, and his ribs were better, except for a few bruises. Putting her arms to her side, Crea smiled at him, then collapsed onto his chest.
