Chapter 5 – Let’s Take a Chance

I was so pissed off. I had gone down to the pool area in my plain black bikini and found a whole bunch of vampires down in the pool joking around. So at first that didn’t bother me, I had gotten into the pool and down a couple of laps, when I had finished my laps I sat on the edge of the pool letting the cold air slowly dry my body. I must have caught the eye of one of the vampires because all of a sudden this emo kind of looking guy (from the group of vampires) swam up to me and started chatting to me. He put both of his hands on my legs and that’s when I snapped, nobody touches me like that. I punched him in the face and his mouth started to bleed, I then quickly got out of the pool and now I was walking back towards my room. I honestly hate guys that think they can treat a girl however they want. I’ve never take shit from anyone and I wasn’t about to start just because I was heading towards vampire country.

I opened the door to the room and paused in the door way for I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Jeremy was playing the piano – a song that I had never heard before – his eyes were closed, and his pale white hair was tussled from the wind that was blowing around in here. He played the song perfectly, even though he wasn’t even looking at the keys. The melody was so sad, as if it were crying out for a broken heart but it was also soft and sweet as if it were a melody created from a dream and when the song finished, he opened his eyes and looked at me, right into me as if he was looking into my soul.

“Zafire,” He breathed, his voiced carried the sadness that was played through the music. His eyes showed that he was hurting and yet I couldn’t understand from what. I walked towards him, slowly, carefully trying to not do anything to rash and thus break the moment. When I reached him I gently placed my hand on his face, He closed his eyes as if the mere touch brought him pleasure to ease his pain.

“That was beautiful.” I whispered and he sighed. He opened his eyes and looked deep into mine and then out of the blue a phone rang and the moment was over. Jeremiah pulled the cell out of his pocket and answered the phone.

“Yes, it’s me.” He spoke and waited for the other person to answer. “What time was it?” silence again “Okay thankyou we will be there.” And then the phone call was over. Jeremy put the cell back into his pocket and stood up.

“That was the owner of the ship and he has invited us to a dinner the cruise is holding for the first night on the ship. It’s in an hour so you should get ready. Oh and its formal were, so dress nice.” He smiled as he walked out onto the deck, again. I went to the wardrobe to find something nice to wear. I finally decided on a short simple black dress and a pair of silver shoes to go with my large silver hoop earrings and silver clutch bag. I knew that I would need to have a shower. So after I had my shower, I got dressed and put on some eyeliner and mascara. When I was finally done I walked out of the bathroom to find that Jeremy was ready and waiting for me. He was sitting at the piano again but this time he was playing anything. Just sitting and looking out the window onto the twilight sky and the midnight blue ocean. Jeremiah looked amazing to say the least, he was wearing a black tux and his pale white hair was combed back out of his eyes. His skin and hair contrasted so much to the tux that it would have looked odd on anyone else but it suited him perfectly. He turned to look at me and slowly got up, a crooked smile playing on his perfect lips. He slowly walked over to me and offered me a red rose.

“You look amazing Z” He stated as I took the rose from his hand. I blushed a violent red and he just continued to grin.

“Shall we?” He asked as he offered me his arm. I took it gently and we made our way to the fifth/top floor which was reserved for parties and dinners. We made our way to the elevator and rode it up to the top floor and entered into the hallway which was adjacent to the party room. We entered into the room – arm in arm – and were directed towards a table which already had four other people at it. Our chairs were right next to each other and the four other people watched us as we walked towards the table. We took our seats and waited in silence.

“Hi I’m Drew and this is my wife Hailey and this is Hugh and Sharla and you are?” The man – Drew – who introduced himself and the rest of our company was tanned with beach blonde hair and a wide toothy grin, his wife was quite thin and very feminine and the other couple weren’t two different to them.

“I’m Jeremiah and this is my wife Zafire.” Jeremy replied to Drew. I noticed that Hugh’s eyes hadn’t left me since I sat down at the table and only at the word wife did his eyes move to Jeremiah.

“And what a lucky man you are.” Hugh replied, his voice was thick and dark like his skin complexion and his hair. The man just oozed the word shady but Jeremiah just smiled. For the rest of the night it continued like this, Jeremiah having a stare-down with Hugh, Drew trying to keep the peace at the table, Sharla and Hailey fighting over each other’s husbands and me sitting there picking away at my beef casserole. I was almost to the point where I was deciding whether or not I should just ditch this lame dinner when the song “Hallelujah” came on.

“Love, would you like to Dance?” Drew asked his wife. She hastily got up and he led her out onto the dance floor.

“Come on babe, let’s go dance!” Hugh pulled Sharla out onto the dance floor and started to dance with her. That left Jeremiah and I alone.

“Hey Z,” he said. I looked up into his eyes and blushed, there was something dancing in his eyes that I couldn’t recognize.
“Do you want to dance?” He whispered so softly that I almost didn’t hear him. I nodded my head gently and let him pull me up with him. He led me out to the middle of the dance floor and we started a slow waltz. I rested my head on his shoulder and I heard him sigh. I felt at ease in his arms, as if it was meant to be like this.

“Jeremy,” I breathed, exhaling and then inhaling his perfect scent.

“Zafire,” He whispered as he kissed my forehead. I stood up and looked into his eyes. I saw the joy in his eyes, the joy of having kissed me in only that simple way. He lifted my chin up and gently kissed me. His lips moulded perfectly with mine, his lips were so warm! I pulled away from him, confused and hurt; only yesterday he told me he didn’t love me and now he was kissing me? I ran out of the dinner room and back into our bedroom, lying down onto the bed and crying my heart out. Why did he have to do this to me?

Jeremiah’s P.O.V
I had actually kissed her! Her lips were perfect and warm! It felt amazing to tell her – even in that way – how I felt but I saw in her eyes her confusion and the hurt I had made her feel. I didn’t want to lie to her yesterday but I had thought then that it would have been easy not to love her but I was wrong, it was almost impossible for my mind not to be on her. I want her to know how I felt, I couldn’t keep on lying to her but that was almost impossible. I had to try and convince her that I did love her, screw the rules! This love is far more important than any rules that they can come up with. I know it in my heart and in my soul that I have to love her, protect her and always be with her.

This is the most important thing I have ever had to do in my life, it’s as if it’s a calling for me alone and it’s something that I know I most do. I want you to know Zafire and I hope that you’re going to let me show you but this is the kind of thing that is more easier said than done.
