I jump onto the counter next to Logan as he sat talking to Mom. Uncle Ruben looked at all of us as all of the family. Well most of it was cramped into the room. He put his arms around Aunt Alex and
smiled at her. “Dad what is the news you had to tell us? Is something wrong?” Audrey asked looking between all of the adults. TJ put his arms around her and pulled her to his body. She wrapped her
arms around him and squeezed him.
“I know the 5 of you grew up together. You really love each other and this move has been hard on all of us.” I looked down knowing he was really talking about me. “You guys have been back together
for a while now so we all got talking about a couple weeks ago.” Mom smiled at me.
“What are you trying to say Dad?” Audrey asked confused still latched on to TJ.
“We’re moving here. We want all of you together again. It was wrong of us to tear you apart. I miss having my friends around, and I guess I miss my god daughter a little too much.” He smiled
pulling me off the counter into a firm hug.
“You’re going to move here?” I mumbled into the t-shirt that covered his broad chest.
“We shouldn’t have split you guys up. You’re all so close. Audrey your Mom and I want what’s best for you, we always did, and we she what’s for you is also best the Ryan, Logan, and even TJ. I want
what’s best for all my kids and that’s us being together again.” I pulled back from Ruben as he hugged Audrey. Aunt Alex held me tightly pulling back to look at my face.
“I missed you my baby.” She smiled as the tears rolled down her face before she kissed my cheeks.
“I missed you too Aunt Alex.” I smiled as she moved on to TJ kissing him all over his face. Hunter nudged me as Asher looked around the room cling to Hunter not knowing what to do.
“When does Tanner get back?” He whispered into my ear. I shrugged.
“I don’t know He said he had to pick something up, but I don’t know.” I sighed. Hunter looked at me.
“What? What’s wrong?” He asked as Emmy looked over at us from where she was talking to Uncle Ruben.
“W hat if no one likes him. I can’t live with myself if they didn’t like him.” I nodded towards the family.
“I’m sure they will love him. You love him so really they will just have to deal with it.” He laughed. I looked at him.
“How do you know I love him?” I asked looking at him with my ‘smart ass face’ as my dad calls it. He snorted.
“How can you not be in love with him? The way he looks at you. The picture in his….” He trailed off looking at the door.
“What photo?” I asked him. He looked away. “Hunter what photo.” I snapped at him. He looked at me before looking down. “Hunter answer me.” I almost growled at him.
“You should talk to Tanner about this. I shouldn’t have said anything.” He stammered. I heard the front door knocked.
“Whatever Hunter.” I snapped at him.
“Ry-Ry there is a boy at the door for you.” I heard Aaron call. I glared at Hunter one more time before walking to the front door. Tanner stood there in his winter jacket holding a bag.
“Hey.” He smiled coming towards me for a kiss. I moved my face at the last moment so he got my cheek. He looked at me confused. “What’s wrong? What did I do?”
“Can we talk?” I asked shooting Sam and Aaron a glare. They caught on fast and Aaron ran back to the TV room. Sam looked at me.
“You promised you would come watch a movie with us, like we always do.” He said looking at Tanner weighing him up.
“I’ll be there in a little bit Sam, don’t worry. Go pick out the movie and get the pillows and blankets out and get ready.” He nodded looking at Tanner one time before fallowing Aaron.
“What happed from when I left and from now that made you mad at me?” He asked looking at me. I looked down at the ground. “Please talk to me.” He begged.
“Come outside with me.” I sighed walking to the backdoor and walked onto the porch into the frosty air, clearing my head. I felt Tanner’s hands on my shoulders. I looked at him. “What photo?” I
asked in a whisper.
“What are you talking about?” He asked turning me to look at him.
“Hunter said something about a photo. What photo Tanner?” I almost snapped. He sighed pulling out his wallet.
“I didn’t want to show you this but….” He handed me a folded up picture. It had creases and was torn in some places but it made it look held. I took the photo gently and opened it.
“It’s, it’s me.” I stammered looking at him. “How do you have this?” I whispered sitting down next to him on the bench he have on the porch.
“I stole it from Hunter about a year ago.” He sighed rubbing his face.
“Why have you had a picture of me in your wallet?” I asked looking up at him.
“You were the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I just took it. It got me though the nights, the days. You got me through my deployments. I didn’t want to give it back. I couldn’t let the
little bit of sanity go away.” He sighed. I snuggled up to him.
“You know I never liked that picture. I hate it but Mom sent it to Hunter any way.” Tanner started to laugh.
“It’s one of my favorites. I can’t get why it’s not a good picture.” He asked unzipping his coat and wrapping it around me after I shivered.
“I just hate it. I have an even better one for you.” I said leaning up to kiss him.
“I don’t know I like this one too much.” He laughed slipping the picture back in his wallet before he slipped his wallet back in his pocket. Tanner kissed me again. “I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you too.” I smiled. I heard the door opened and looked to see Hunter.
“Mom wanted me to tell you that Sam and Aaron want to open the presents since Uncle Connor and Aunt Megs just got here.” I nodded. “So get in the house because Noah is adding to the whines to open
them so please for all of our sanities come in. Both of you.” He went back inside. I looked at Tanner.
“Come on lets go in.” He nodded pulling me up. “Time to meet the family.” I smiled.
“Time to meet the family.” He nodded…….
