I hoped into Emmy’s car as she pulled up in front of me. She smiled at me. “How are you feeling?” She asked as I sat down next to her.
“A little better. I don’t feel as sick. I had breakfast but I’m still hungry.” I sighed buckling my seatbelt.
“That’s good. I would rather be hungry than sick.” He smiled at me driving to a local dinner. “I know I was starving when I was pregnant with Asher.” She said pulling in to the dinner’s parking
lot. My heart dropped. What if it really wasn’t Tanner’s baby? Emmy looked at me. “You just turned deadly pale what’s wrong?”
“What if this isn’t Tanner’s baby?” I whispered the fear coming back to me. Emmy looked at me from where we sat looking at the menu.
“Why would you thing that?” She asked smiling as the waitress brought over our drinks.
“I don’t know everything. I just don’t feel right. I feel like Owen is haunting me from prison. He is ruining one of the things I really love right now. I don’t know what to do.” She put her hand
“Let’s find out if you’re pregnant before we get into this. The less stress the better.” I nodded but still put my face in my hands. I was so nervous. I was going to see if I really was pregnant
and whose baby it really is. I looked up as the waitress put the food down causing my stomach to growl. I dove in eating away at all my food. When I was done Emmy was looking at my empty plate.
“What?” I asked wiping my mouth.
“You had more food than I did, and you ate all of yours as I ate about ¾ of mine. And yet you ate also before this too.” She scrunched up her nose.
“I was hungry.” I shrugged.
“You eat like your brother.” She shook her head. I looked at the clock on my phone and sighed.
“Come on we should get going if we want to be on time for the doctor.” I threw some money down for my half as Emmy put her money down.
“Yeah we should get going.” We walked out to the car and drove silently to the hospital. My stomach was in knots as I waited in the waiting room to be called. I see why they call it the waiting
room, but the lease they can do is make the chairs comfy to sit in. I was shifting so uncomfortable the Emmy smacked me to top me. I couldn’t tell if I was nervous about what was happening or if
the chair was that uncomfortable. I think it was a mix of both. When the nurse called my name Emmy had to pull me up because I was so nervous. She took my hand in hers as it started to shake. All I
could wish was for Tanner to be here. “Come on Ry it will be okay, don’t worry about it.” I nodded numbly as she sat in the chair waiting as I sat on the table.
“Sure, sure.” I said closing my eyes to come myself down. My head was suddenly pounding fiercely. I felt sick. Really sick like I was going to-. I cut my self off as I grabbed the garbage can and
threw up violently into it. I hated it as it burned my throat as it came out. I held my breath as my stomach kicked a fit at me jerking me till I puked again. I didn’t move till I was sure I was
done and when I did there was a nurse holding a napkin for me.
“Here sweetheart. Let me take this.” She took the bag out, tying it in a note, before replacing it with a new one. I weakly got up and laid down on the bed type chair to weak to really move. I
hated throwing up. It was horrible. I always got weak at the end making it even worse. I closed my eyes drifting into sleep when I felt warm lips pressed on my forehead. I opened my eyes to
see Tanner standing there in full uniform smiling at me.
“Hey how are you feeling?” He asked putting a piece of hair behind my ear.
“A little better since I puked but still weak.” He nodded sitting down in a chair that I didn’t know was there. “What are you doing here? I thought you were on duty till noon.” I asked
knowing it was 10 to 12.
“Emmy called saying that you got sick so I called the guy who was taking over for me when my shift was over and he came early so I could be here for you. You have been sleeping for a while now.” I
looked at my arm and sure enough there was a band-aid that wasn’t there when I went to sleep. I looked back at Tanner in question.
“They took some blood to make sure you really are pregnant because it says in your records that urine tests in your family aren’t always right. It what the doctor said.” He said putting his hands
up in surrender. I nodded kissing his wrist which was connected to the hand that was stroking my hair.
“I love you.” I whispered.
“I love you too Baby doll.” He smiled kissing me. I looked to see Emmy gone. “She went to work they needed her so she left a little after I got here.” I nodded as the door knocked. The doctor
walked in with my file in her hands. She smiled at me.
“Good to see you up. Now I ran the blood work for a pregnancy test and it indeed came back positive so you are in fact pregnant Miss Banks.” I took a deep breath not knowing what to feel. I looked
at her as she read on. “I want to do an ultra sound now to see how far along and everything if that’s okay with you.” She asked looking up. I nodded.
“Of course. When will I have it?” Tanner squeezed my hand.
“I already have a room open for you to go into. If you could just come with me.” We fallowed her to an ultra sound machine as I laid down on the bed. Pulled my t-shirt up as the machine jumped to
life. She squeezed the gel on my stomach moving it around. I squeezed Tanner’s hand as the doctor looked at me. “Now would you look at that?” She said……..
