Dr. Fisher walked up to Tanner and looked at him. “How-how are they?” He whispered looking down at a still sleeping
“You have a beautiful 16 inch, 5 pound baby girl.” He smiled at Tanner. Mom looked at him.
“Is she healthy? Is she okay?” Mom said standing up. The doctor looked at her.
“I’m not sure right now. They have taken her to the NICU to check her out. She was in longer than we wanted her to be and we are not
sure if that did anything to harm her.” Tanner closed his eyes as a tear rolled down his face. “But this little guy looks like he got the best out of the deal.” He smiled at Wyatt.
“What do you mean?” Mom asked putting her hand on Tanner’s shoulder looking at Wyatt as he opened his eyes to look at his
“He is the bigger, stronger, baby out of the two. May I see him?” He asked holding his arms out to Tanner. Tanner looked down at his
son before gently handing him to the doctor. The doctor gently unwrapped the blanket around him to look at the naked baby. Wyatt started to cry as a breeze from the air conditioner hit his semi
“What are you looking for?” Tanner asked holding the white blanket in his hands. The doctor looked at him.
“Well first I was making sure everything was okay since right after he was born, sometimes I don’t trust some of the nurses here.
But everything looks fine. You might want to put a onesie on him so he doesn’t get cold it might be August but still.” He smiled. “Did you bring one? Because I can get you a hospital issued one if
you need it.” Mom nodded.
“I have one let me go get if from Cooper.” She said walking out. Tanner looked at the doctor.
“How is my fiancée? Please tell me she is okay…” He whispered as the doctor handed Tanner Wyatt back.
“After we got Bailey out we looked to see why her blood pressure was dropping as fast as it was. We found it pretty fast.” He nodded
as Mom walked back in holding a blue baby body suit.
“Than what was wrong with her?” He asked taking the clothes and gently putting it on Wyatt.Mom looked at the doctor.
“She has a tear in her birth canal. It tore when Wyatt came out. It couldn’t clot because it so big and it was bleeding too much.”
“Is, is she gone?” He whispered looking at the doctor. “Please tell me she isn’t gone.” He cried at the doctor.
“Hey, hey, hey I didn’t say that.” The doctor said looking at Wyatt as he started to cry. “Tanner, Ryan not dead. We stopped the
bleeding easily; all it needed was stitches to fix the tare. We gave her blood since she lost so much but she should recover easily. I did what I said I was going to do and that was to save her,
and I did.” He smiled at them as Tanner tried to stop Wyatt from crying.
“Then where is she? Shouldn’t she be back by now?” He asked looking out the hallway.
“Well that’s also why I was here. We changed her room to one closer to the nurses station just in case something happened. I can
take you there now. She should be ready by now.” Tanner took a deep breath and stood up with a still crying Wyatt.
“Come with me and I will bring you to her room.” Mom and Tanner both fallowed Doctor Fisher as Wyatt screamed his head off. The
nurse inside my room smiled at Tanner and Wyatt.
“I will go get him a bottle, he must be hungry.” She said checking one last thing before walking out. The nurse walked back in
holding a little bottle for Wyatt. “Sit down sweetheart.” Tanner sat down next to my bed were I lay sleeping and looked up at the nurse. “Give him this.” She smiled handing Tanner the bottle. He
pressed the nipple of the bottle to Wyatt’s lips making him stop crying to suckle on it hungrily. He smiled down at his son before looking at me as I lay on the bed, totally out of it. He looked at
“When will she wake up to see our babies?” The doctor shrugged.
“We had to sedate her to get Bailey out, so it’s really up to her body on how long she is out for. It shouldn’t be too long.” He
said looking at the bag of blood that was attached to my IV pole where my IV was.
“Thank you Doctor Fisher.” He yawned looking at his watch. It was 7 o’clock. The doctor looked at him.
“Tanner let me take Wyatt to the nursery, were he has to go soon anyway, while you get some sleep. You’re going to need it.” Tanner
looked down at the handsome baby falling to sleep, down with his bottle. “Let me take him. It will be okay, get some sleep.” Doctor Fisher gently took A sleeping Wyatt from him.
“Take care of him, please.” He whispered unlacing his combat boots.
“I will, get some sleep.” He smiled.
“Doc?” He called quietly. Doctor Fisher looked at him.
“When will I get to see my daughter?” The doctor looked at Tanner.
“Soon, just get some sleep kid.” He said walking out with Wyatt. Tanner took a deep breath and looked around the medium sized room.
There was a TV on the left wall next to a window that had the shade pulled down so the morning light wouldn’t come inside the dark room. There was a bathroom in the far corner by the door as the
bed was in the middle of the room against the wall. He stood up from the couch he was sitting on and pulled the blanket up so I wasn’t just covered by a thin sheet. He kissed my forehead before
sitting back on the couch as Mom walked back in.
“We are going to go home and let you too have your space. Call me when she wakes up will you?”
“Of course Patty. Thank you.” He smiled. Mom kissed his forehead.
“Don’t worry. Now go to bed.” She said with a stern voice. He smiled lying down as she pulled the blanket over him. He closed his
eyes as Mom walked out of the room back to Dad leaving the hospital………
