I bounced Bailey gently as I tried to calm her down. It’s been about 10 days since we found out about Bailey’s Hepatoblastoma. They have put her on a ton of medication to help her stop vomiting and
gain some weight. They figured out that she has a tumor inside her lived causing all of this. Since she is so little, size and age, they don’t want to operate on her to take the tumor out so they
are trying out chemotherapy to get the tumor to shrink before it disappears. Dad had some of his old friends pull some strings to get me a phone call to Tanner, which led to an emergency deployment
back home. I don’t think I have ever heard Tanner so heartbroken. He broke down crying screaming the words I couldn’t say. Why, why, her. Why do you have to take away everything from me? Why. I
just sat there crying as I listen to him screaming in a overseas airport. I felt horrible that all I could do was sit there and cry and tell him I was sorry. Well Tanner was on his flight home now.
I was taking Bailey and Wyatt to the Airport with me to go pick him up. I looked at Bailey as she giggled at me. She was such a angle. She still, even with battling cancer, was a happy little baby.
She giggled at us when we did something stupid, or if we were being funny. She would laugh at her brother when we was being funny, but still crawl over to see if he was alright when he fell.
Wyatt was walking a lot more now, Bailey, still wasn’t. She would stand up easily now but when I watched her ready for her to walk she would just sit down and crawl to where she wanted to be. She
hasn’t talked, but she did start to eat more solid food. I kissed her forehead and sighed. They started chemo right after they found out about her tumor. She was losing her blond hair very quickly.
I really just think she didn’t like it so she pulled it out. I couldn’t watch this happening. It was heart breaking. She would have these bold spots all over her head making her look sick, so I did
the only thing I could think of to do. I brought her to a barber. The barber shaved her head easily not cutting her in any way. She didn’t even cry. She was brave. All she did was pout into the
mirror but once it was all gone she put her hand up to her head and a smile broke out across her face. She clapped her hands and giggled again laying her head on my shoulder.
I laid Bailey on the changing table changing her into this perfect little blue dress, since she hated pink dresses. It was weird. If I put her in a pink shirt she would be happy, but if it
was a dress she wouldn’t be. She would cry till I took it off. I pulled out her little hat. She loved it. Dad took her out so I could calm down because Audrey took both Asher and Wyatt out for some
strawberry picking since they misses the chance when Bailey had to go to the hospital. It was a Marine blue with a light red, almost pink stripe going around her head. It had Daddy’s little Devil
Dog embroidered on it with little strings hanging from the ear flaps. She always wore it. I put on her white shoes as she chewed on a toy. I laid her into her car seat before I grabbed Wyatt and
changed him in a long sleeve shirt with baby jeans. I put on little sneakers on him. Dad had me switch him into a toddler car seat instead of the baby one I had him in. I of course beat him when he
said I should switch Bailey too, but I already talked to her doctor and he said I should leave it be. Andy was over at Emmy’s helping her out since he was a sweetheart. He asked if he could help me
out with his baby cousins so I said yes if he could carry their diaper bag and he broke out into a smiled before picking up the bag ready to go. “Andy you ready?” I asked walking into the living
room. He nodded walking over to the door as I slipped on my sneakers with Wyatt in my arms and Bailey’s car seat in my hand. I put her down to lock the door before running after Andy. He smiled at
me as he held the elevator.
“Come on Auntie Ryan, I wouldn’t leave you here.” I smiled at him.
“Of course not Andy.” He helped me putting the bag in the car as I put the twins safely in the back. I smiled at him. “Thank you Andy you really helped me.” He smiled leaning up to kiss my cheek.
“Anything for you Auntie Ryan. I love you and tell Uncle Tanner I love him too.” He said before running off to Emmy who was standing at the door ready to take him back upstairs. I waved bye before
I started to drive to the air port. I got to the gate Tanner was coming in at and sat down. Wyatt was looking at his sister as they cooed at each other. I always found it so cute. I let her out of
her car seat so they could both sit on the floor. I looked up as people started to come out of the terminal from his flight. I watched him come out looking tired holding his kit over his shoulder.
I locked eyes with him and whispered ‘I love you’ to him. He smiled nodding.
“Wyatt who’s that?” I asked him pointing at Tanner. Wyatt looked up.
“Dada!” He yelled running over to him. People quickly moved out of his way since he was wobbling but it didn’t stop him from running to his father. Bailey looked up to see her Dad and she broke
into one of his smiles. She leaned on a chair to pull herself up and looked at him. Tanner stopped and was watching her from only a short distance now. He put his kit down, as well as Wyatt and
opened his arms.
“Come here Baby girl.” He smiled tears running down his face. I put my hand over my mouth as Bailey took shaky steps over to him. He held her as she fell into his arms. He hugged her close to him
as I cried silent tears. I felt like the whole Airport was watching us as Tanner hugged her. I guess it’s okay since he was in camo and no one else is. Bailey looked up at him hugging his head
running her hand down his face like she did to me all the time.
“Dada.” I felt like my heart was exploding. I knew it. I knew it and it made me smile. I knew she was waiting for him. She was waiting for him to get back to walk up to him, give him a hug, and
tell him she knew who he was. Her Dada…………
